Growing grass is most of the farming I do. 'Course the cows have to have something to eat. Right?

TBS

Yep, the cows are just a way to get rid if all that grass and hay. :D

Talking about cows,,, do they strap them down during transport???

I am positive a good size bull would weigh more than the little JD tractor I move with my trailer.

My JD does not taste as good,,, though,,, :licking:

I pull up rocks and there's no more rocks. Over the winter someone must come in the yard and plant little pebbles without me knowing because every spring there are new rocks sticking out of the ground.

Neighbor up the road gets washes every year. Has a gully that he fights to keep clean in order to keep water from shooting straight at his house: he's got a dinky Kubota, it's a Sisyphean task. Had someone come in and assess how much gravel and crap there is. Estimate was 50,000 cubic yards!

I got a dump trailer (and am awaiting on a new tractor to pull it with) and will be helping him bail. (I need "some" fill material) Hopefully my excursions won't end up being a highlight here:laughing:

That would be 142 million pounds of stone!!
Heck, even with a dump trailer,, that will take more than a week of work!!

I was given all I could haul compost one summer a few years ago.
I moved 100 loads at 5,000 pounds per load (I weighed one of the typical loads on a local truck scale)
It took me over a month, at 3-4 loads a day, to move a half million pounds.

I hope you ain't got nothing planned for the next 23 years!!

:laughing::laughing:
I wish you were closer, I would help you haul,,,

Yeah, the guy is well aware of the expanse-ness of this. Told me I'd be surprised at how much it would take to actually fill.

I bought a Best Trailer 5x10 dump trailer from my equipment rental guy. It's been beat up (need new tires!) but is still quite functional. It's supposed to be able to handle upwards of 11k lbs (w/o extending rails). Specs for the NX5510 that I just ordered state it's good for towing 9,500 lbs (per normal operating use- I realize that most things can always tow more than is spec'd, though I don't like to push my luck). That is actually more than my truck! Tractor is much more nimble than my [pig of a] truck, so that should, hopefully, work out.

I anticipate getting stuck somewhere along the line. Not sure, though, whether I ought to post any account of such:laughing:

A good size bull weighs 2000 pounds.
Cows are not strapped down during transport, because they use an enclosed trailer, however whenever there is a wreck there are fatalities. Just ask my cousin.

Sometimes they get loose too.

My father-in-law was feeding his cows a few years ago, round bales on the loader of his mf165... same as other days... Bull was in a bad mood, charged the tractor, hit back wheel hard enough to bring the wheel off the ground. Needless to say, the bull ended up in 1lb packages labeled 'hamburger' shortly after. And not because it got hurt hitting the tractor.
