You don't need seatbelts, airbags, or parachutes, either, until you REALLY need them.

Same with equipment tiedown chains. Not much time to put them on seconds before the accident.

Bruce

Exactly.

No tie downs/seatbelts/helmets/safe following distance?

No problem! Been doing it that way for years! Everything is just fine.....

.............. until it's not.

Make your load "one with the trailer" and vice versa. Should anything out of the ordinary happen, the load and trailer should behave as a single unit. I recall seeing the aftermath of a tri-axle dump truck pulling a tri-axle trailer with a good sized excavator on it. Trailer and excavator were on their side but still intact as a unit. Had they separated, they could have taken out a wider swath which could have resulted in more damage/injury. The fewer pieces hurtling down the road, out of control, the better.

(NOTE: actually, this one is a tease,,, it was chained down,,, as I was taking it 100 miles on the Interstate!! LOL )

What kind of farming do you do with that rig?

You can't have anything loose in the back of your p/u here, never mind in a trailer. Fines, Fines, Fines! You can however, have a Cummins Block sitting loose under your vinyl tonneau cover though.

If you have a tonneau cover over it, it isn't "loose"!

The tractor was pretty useful,,

Yes, I've used my lawn tractor to pull carts for attending to animals. That is, my wife has: she tied the cart's handle to the lawn tractor using a rope:laughing: I suppose that it would have qualified to be in this thread :D

Besides mowing, I use my little cub for lots of things. I use it to get my splitter to the wood.

I leave it attached to the splitter. More convenient.

and (no pics)

I have a 400 lb roller, I roll my lawn with
I spread fertiiizer, lime, etc
I used it to pull the roller to pack down the new driveway materials I have to maintain my drive with
I drag my trash barrels to the street and back with it
I've used it for moving my trailers around the yard
My grand kids just plain like driving it all over the property.

A lot of the stuff I now use my Mahindra for now, though...except for the lawn stuff.
