I won't use straps for securing a load when they cross an edge, I had a long block on a pallet secured with straps, by the time I got home, two of the straps were cut where they touched an edge. if the straps are tight (like they should be), there is usually enough movement to quickly "saw" through or at least weaken the strap. I continue to buy straps for some reason, like when we drove 280 miles to get our new mower and realized all the straps/chains/etc were in the truck and not the Tahoe we took. Tied it down best we could, drove very slow to the local NAPA store and bought a 4 pack of straps. NO edges were crossed, held up very nice, even had a panic stop and the 1154lb mower did not shift. I have a toolbox that I am going to mount on the trailer tongue that will have an assortment of straps and chains. Just have not done it yet..
