Bushmaster makes a good AR-15. As far as the optics...no expert here, but there are quality optics and no-so-quality optics.
Frankly, I suggest you buy the rifle sans optics and go for the optics (red dot may not be the best for your use) later.

How do you intend to use the AR? Red dots are great "speed" sights, but not precision sights. For competition shoots at 100 yards or under, it is hard to beat a red dot. For precision shooting it is not as good as a conventional scope.

I was going to use it to keep Turks off my property. 100 yards would be good enough, but I was just wondering about the quality of the bushmaster, or if I should just stick with a colt or sw.

Bushmasters are fine. If the majority of your shooting will be 100 or less, a red dot is very hard to beat. It is very quick to acquire.

I wouldn't waste too much time trying to figure out what's best... If there's something you don't like about it down the road, change it.
Got tired of the front sight block on mine so it's gone, now my M&P is a piston driven with a free float hand guard.
