My name is Chris and I have been looking for a good tractor for a while now. I live on 40 acres of mostly tree farm but have 5 acres to mow. The property is my parents but I live on an acre with my family and do all the property maintenance since dad had a stroke and cannot do anything more than sweep the porch every now and then. They had a 12 year old Nortac / Jinma 25 that was slowly dying and I decided I was tired of fixing it. Just bought a Mahindra 4540 with FEL, 72" SD deck, box blade, and forks. We run a small honey supply business on the property and I will be looking to use it for light to medium local work as well. I have the parts to build my 3rd function on the way too so I can get wicked eventually.
I am an Army Vet that has 3 years experience working on tanks and tracked vehicles and an additional 3 on transport trucks and hummers, as well as a year of heavy equipment for Ring Power Caterpillar. Looking forward to getting work done faster and making some side money mainly.

I logged 2 hours today and man did it get a lot more done than I was used to. The 72" deck made quick work of our field vs. the 48" I was used to. I moved some scrap with the forks and movd some broken concrete with the bucket. Quick attach is amazing.

Well, I have put 4 1/2 hours on it and am impressed. I did not doubt the quality or I would not have bought it, I just didn't expect the 4540 to be so strong. My history with Cat and Deere industrial machines made me feel this would be a decent piece of equipment for light work, but I admit, I have put it through its paces today. I had one spot where my box blade tines hit a root and caused the back tire to start turning in place. Dropped it in 4x4 and locked the rear diff and out popped a thick 6" root. I'll get some pics up as soon as I figure out how to post them.
Also received an email from Surplus Center and my parts for 3rd function are on the way.
