My tractors are too busy doing "other" work, to have time to go to the woods!

SR

Two tractors keeping busy without operators. I wish I could train mine to do that. :D

Very nice !

You guys are smart! Better to power wash to get dirt off bark and if logs have been sitting for awhile and you use a rotary nozzle on your power washer you can debark. Much better them sharpening chain all the time it is boring!

What is a (foam cannon) and what type of suds do you use? Looks like a great way to keep equipment looking good.
Thanks

I find "power washing" sometimes just drives the dirt deeper into the bark, that's why I use HIGH volume, lower pressure to "wash" it out...

Debarking works, but it takes a lot longer, makes a BIG mess to clean up and takes a more powerful pressure washer...

After working on this on-and-off for weeks, I at last pulled over my giant old redwood stump. I
used my tractor, a cable, and a snatch block. A 20T jack set into a pocket was also used. The
stump was about 12' tall, and about 7' x 9.5' at the cut. I posted a video here:
stump_video - YouTube

The tree was first cut down over 100 y ago, and was several hundred years old.

The project was difficult due to the lack of a long enough chainsaw. Mine is only
36".

Boy I hope so with all that work! I have always enjoyed seeing those very big old stumps when hiking in the forest. Especially with the foot board notches still visible. Monuments to days long ago.

I have 2 guys who will cut and pay me for chunks of it. It is quite dense and wet at the
core, and will be dried and used for furniture or other objets d'art. Looking for more
folks (with big saws) to come and cut off some chunks.

To properly cross-cut a section off of the remaining stump in the ground would require
an 8-ft saw, or be cut into sections. It would make a wonderful tabletop. It is now
drying super-fast, so needs to be harvested.

Yeah you can still see the notches, since it was cut about 12' off the ground. With manual
2-man saw, most likely.
