I went to the new HF yesterday had the day off after my long weekend of sales. This month a lot of the prices are up high since the last time I was there. The greenhouse is listed for $100 more ($319) than I had paid with the $80 off coupon.

So bought the #67926 3/8 impact rated extension bars to use with my new Milwaukee 2454 Fuel 3/8 impact wrench purchase last week.

But also grabbed a $9.99 #67972 1/2" extension bar set using a 20% coupon that was to expire the end of this week. So both sets were only $7.99.

I really wanted some new 1/2 ones because the big 2763 Milwaukee 1/2 impact wrench was flaring out the square ends of some old Cal Hawk extension bars I had. The HF 3/8" set is really decent and fits tight on the tools hog ring anvil, the 1/2 set not so good...just about fall of by themselves. Doesn't take much effort to remove them that for sure. Different sizes than what I had but the little 1 3/4" I don't see much use for it really and the 2 1/2" won't fit my flip sockets (needs to be 3 inch like the Cal Hawk) but it does make a great short extension for the 2763 and as for the other two bars one is longer and one shorter than what I had. So will soon see how they handle the abuse.

Oh and got a free 25' tape measure too

My BIL had a great Stihl chainsaw except for one thing - Once in a while, while running at full throttle, it would just quit. And then was a bear to restart, and then would run perfect for a while, and then just quit. Made an otherwise good saw too frustrating to try to use.

I was the designated saw doctor. Finally found a tiny shred of reddish fabric embedded in the carb fuel pump port. The color was unmistakable, and you guessed it - shop rag. Cheap Chinese cotton fabric is sometimes NOT a bargain.

I'm sure that works. However, there are now much more convenient devices not much bigger than an iPhone that can start a car. Lithium powered of course. Not yet sold by HF but Costco has them for about $50. I keep one in my glovebox that charges itself constantly from a simple USB port. It doubles as a charger for my phone if I want to take it out of the car too.

Those are nice, certainly can see keeping one in a glove box. But I keep my HF unit in a shed with plenty of shelf space and solar charging, so the form factor and long power holding capability the little device doesn't do anything for my application. I'd rather have the extra capacity and available current of the bigger battery, particularly for starting a tractor or a V8 vehicle.

Yes, no particular advantage of a high power small battery if you keep it in a barn or shed. However, you'd be surprised at the starting power of these lithium battery devices. Not sure about a big diesel but they can handle gas V8 starts. Gone are they days when you need a handcart to wheel a jumper battery around. My Ford dealer uses the little lithium batteries so that gives you an idea of their general capacity.

I almost bought that one last year it was decent cranking amps for the price point but opted for a slightly smaller one off Amazon for $25. (And that one is now up to $40 just looked )

I like having a jump starter around the garage especially for the motorcycles. Its also an indoor 12v power source to run bench tests on starters and relays. I think the ones with extra stuff air compressors etc. are just a waist of money though

Battery tenders... it took me way too long to wise up to them. Now on every occasional use item. Even regular use in some cases. Generator, Tractor, Boat (dingy), Z-turn, and oh now my son's project, a 70's pop up camper. Great investment especially because when you want to start it, winter or whatever... it starts!
