Harbor Freight Tools that don't suck

I've heard that some of their stuff actually doesn't suck. Maybe someone should start a thread so we can share our experiences and identify the stuff that is actually a good value. If someone has a bad experience, they can share that, too.

OK, I have another winner I entirely forgot about. It's their 1/2" D rings that you bolt to the sides of a trailer or whatever to tie things down. They are thick, strong and bolt on easily. I put six on my smaller double axle trailer and have hauled everything with them. They are on "sale" for $5.49 right now and you can get 20% off with a coupon if that works for you. Definitely good quality.

The only problem I have with these, and it is admittedly a minor one, is that the holes for bolting them on are squared off, like for carriage bolts, but there aren't any carriage bolts I can find that have a strength rating that matches or exceeds the rating for the anchors.

Although, I don't see any reason why you couldn't use grade 5 or 8 hex bolts instead.

A few weeks ago I had to find a folding wheelchair to transport an elderly family member who has become weak and unsteady on her feet (hopefully temporarily) during cancer treatments. It couldn't be a lightweight transport chair, as much of the use is on concrete, parking lots and crossing roads between buildings in a hospital complex.

I remembered my adult son had gotten one from HF a few years to transport an ailing, disabled buddy (250 lbs) around during a long, nostalgic road trip visiting places from his past. The chair never let them down, so I figured I'd try one for $96 on sale plus a coupon. Chromed steel and aluminum alloy. Well made, and we're amazed at how many of the healthcare folks comment on how nice it is when we wheel in. 40 lbs, so my wife can manage it in and out of the car.

This is what I did.. one in each corner plus one top center in front to aid any dead 4 wheelers getting back on the trailer.

McMaster-Carr has Grade 5 carriage bolts and Grade 5 and 8 plow bolts.
