Gully's gone, and my truck made the hill in 2wd with bald tires. Minivan (wifes car) should have no trouble.

Then I cut some more trees and broke out the stump grinder.

Only got half done with my stump removals, so I'll be back at it tomorrow. Man, does that grinder work slick.

Worked up another one of my little firewood log piles I have spread around.

On the way home I saw a turkey scoot out from under a brush pile. I stopped to investigate and found a nest with nine eggs under there. Not the best picture. Camera didn't know what to focus on I guess - I was on my belly looking under/thru the brush pile. Didn't want to hang around. Just got one quick shot. That is a good example of why I don't clean up my logging slash. Critters love a brush pile.

Nice. Depending on your camera phone, usually if you just tap the screen where you want it to focus it will focus and set exposure for that area. I run into this a lot taking pictures of the innards of machinery that I work on at my job.

I saw this nest a couple weeks ago. Keep meaning to go back and see if they've hatched yet.

Leaving YOUR scent around or near a nest like that, will make it MUCH easier for a predator to find them!

Maybe - maybe not. If there are bunch of coyotes, coons, foxes, fishers, skunks, weasel, or whatever following my scent around the woods, which is every where, they will starve to death before my sent leads them to prey or food unless they are very lucky. I hope the owls and hawks weren't watching me because they will know where it is too.

SR I apologize for my sarcastic comment. I just don't believe that taking that picture has much significance in the survival probability of that nest. From my younger days working a trap line I know that leaving human scent around a trap set almost assures you of failure if you are after fur bearers.
Again I apologize - I should have just let it slide because I admit that often us humans go to far in our quest to enjoy nature.

I also came across a turkey nest, last weekend. I think I posted a picture but in the seat time thread. I snapped a quick picture, and went to another area to brush hog, hopping that the hen and chicks would return to the un-hatched eggs in the nest. Felt bad for bothering them, would have stayed away had I known.
