External Sprag Clutch

On my 1715 the sprag clutch is shot, in looking at the parts diagram it seems to me that I could replace the shafts and clutch with the shaft for an HST trans for a third of the price, but I would need an external sprag clutch for my brush hog. Question I have, is there such a thing available?

I think an external overrunning clutch (ORC) would probably work if all you are trying to do is protect the shaft from being back driven by a high rotary inertia pto driven implement.

Yes, they are available. My drum mower has one built into its pto shaft.
