Neighbor I dont know from up the road stopped by, left a flier for a lost dog that ran off this morning.

A little later as i had just started mowing, saw one in a field across the road that fit the description. I had to go back to house to get their number to call, went back out and the dog was gone. They stopped by and went looking for it, hope they found it.

55 this morning made it to 75 today. Currently 71 and rain on the way.

Had to go to a friends house this morning. He had a vet coming by to preg check and age cows. Also did a BSE on the bull. Think the bull may be bad. Not good but it happens. Also hit me up to look at some fields and pull some soil test for him.

Then met the wife and ordered the boy's birthday present. A new swing set.

Managed to get home and service the rear finish mower. Made a quick pass just to check it out. Still need to service ZTR. See I'm opposite you guys. I started with a ZTR and have moved back to a tractor. ZTRs are quick but when you have large open areas like I do. Nothing beats width and ride comfort. My finish mower is 2 feet wider than the ZTR and the 17.5R24's sure beat the 25x12R9's in ride quality along with a suspension seat. Cut my mowing time by 1/3.

Totally agree, I was trying to keep up with 8+ acres of "yard" around the ranch house with our 60" JD ZT. Bought an 84" LS Rear Finish Mower last year so, I can mow open areas away from all the trees with cab tractor, about 1/2 of the area. Slowly getting many of the post oaks trimmed up so I can get under them with the tractor.

I don't have to mow the other wide open 4 acres, for some reason the county mows it along with the airport access and buffer zone, so I let them. No obstacles here, other than probably 200+ oak trees to mow around and under on the 8 plus acres.

Rick, like you, I have a number of oaks with low hanging branches. Each year I cut a few more back. I hope to get them all done in the next year or two, hopefully before the day comes when a few seconds distraction converts my Iseki from a cabbed to an open station tractor

Had another go at welding yesterday, this time on stainless steel. My head knows that as a newcomer to arc welding, I shouldn't really be playing with this stuff just yet, however my curiosity and enthusiasm got the better of me. Also, I only justified buying the welding machine by saying to my wife that raised beds made out of oak will last out our lifetime if I weld brackets to hold them together out of stainless. Now I have to deliver on that almost plausible justification as she has trays of plants all over the place that are ready for planting out. The only thing that's saving me at the moment is a forecast for a hard frost on Sunday, so the plants need to stay inside for a little longer.

Good morning guys. Went to bed early wed after someone snuck up on me and beat me with the big stick. Slept until 8:30 and still felt kinda ruff but after a couple hours was back to old self. First time I slept in like that in a long time. Took about 30 min to catch up with you all. Magic lawn mowers appearing on lawns, lost dogs, perfect driveways, canyon lands and tractors. Wow. Thanks for the thoughts guys about my wife. That was a long time ago and after doing a lot of stupid things it became the past. Not a big thing any more. When I look back i see how blessed I am today with my present wife. She is a jewel.
35 this am going to 65 and sunny. Hope the weather man soon gets tired of saying frost soon.
Went to town yesterday and got a 6 x 10 box trailer. It will help with the move as well as other things. going to get the car serviced today. Hope you all have a GREAT DAY Ed

Good morning everyone 37 degrees headed to upper 60's low 70's today. The afternoon was very nice yesterday go the mowing and weed eaten done but not without incedent, i have a camper top on my old farm truck and fishing truck hit the side window on camper with a gravel while weed eaten shattered the glass. I am sure i can find one it's only 30 years old [ yeah right]. Now i have another problem thank's to bristol motor speed way, wife say's she want's to go see the huge tv so there goes a day for that. I have to say it is huge [3 stories high 64 ft wide]. Everyone have a great day and be safe.

Welding is one of those skills that is best learned by doing, but some preparation is helpful as well. Stainless steel is readily weldable, at least some types are. If you know the alloy, you can pick a compatible electrode. Good Morning! 42F @ 3:45AM. Sunny skies. High 74F. Winds NW at 15 to 25 mph. Winds could occasionally gust over 40 mph.

Yesterday was spent with more tidying up before the wrenching weekend, then a trip to town for provisions. I won't go into the menu, but if anyone goes home hungry it's definitely their own fault! :laughing:

Got the flail lubed and filled with gear oil, only to find that the supplied PTO drive shaft is several inches too short. The one from the Bushog might work, but the push button releases on the too short one are obscured by the safety guard on the flail end of the connection. Even if I were able to get to it, the one on the other end jams and needs the persuasion of a ball pien hammer and drift to move, so I've got a call into "tech support" and will hopefully gain some insight later today.

44 going to 64 today, another nice day.
Had a great dinner in a small town on the Intracoastal Waterway, Belhaven, at a restaurant chef'd by
someone who just moved from NJ, and as the reviews say, what he did with fish was marvelous. The chef had Portugese
roots so when I saw paella on the menu, had to try. Stuffed with tiny clams, oysters, shrimp, scallops and a large halved
prawn/could this be a crawfish? Looked like a tiny lobster, honestly did not taste very good, I don't think he cooked it enough.
Happily gave that piece away. Yummy dinner though. Really don't like driving home in the dark after eating out, combo of wine, coffee, being tired,
glare, seven million deer, all make for a long drive home. Huge number of young deer out, must be that time.

And i did not get a pic of the surprised look on my friend's face with the mower, but I did get a high pitched excited call of what sounded like a little girl with a Christmas present. All good. Task accomplished... Now...the challenge is her understanding I only want to be her good friend, not more. So no worries over dowries.
Wait, when does the guy get the big bucks? How about some equal representation here on the dowries?...

Let's see, how much money would it take for me to marry someone who I really wasn't madly in love with?

off downtown today to do some shopping and puttering around, my friends playing tourists. And we will go back to their favorite spot, which is hysterical for a pair of foodies. Bills Hot Dogs. For a buck and a quarter, you can get it all the way...(still bring snickers to some) with chopped onions, mustard and hot chili. Two of those are a real treat. Actually when you look at the bright red hot dog, probably 50% nitrates, I think of TXDon seeing one of these put on the plate in front of him.
Oh my...
they have lines out the door to this place. Just another version of fast food. I'd really like to take of of those loaded dogs and send it out to a lab for analysis.

The term "speed way" takes me back. I grew up in a place that was a few miles from a motorcycle Speedway. Whether you were at the track, or at home(with the wind in the right direction), you got the same incredible atmosphere. The roar of sound came over in waves and there was nothing quite like the distinctive odour of machines running on high octane concoctions that, if they were lucky, would make the engines scream for a few laps before blowing up. Only the riders got to see a complete lap, spectators at the side of the track had to turn our eyes away as they came past and peppered everyone with cinders.

You may want to consider taking some earplugs with you. I had a look online and it says the sound system to support that huge screen sucks up an incredible 540,000 Watts

Drinking first cup of coffee. 50° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 54° with clouds and chance of rain in afternoon. Wife wants to do some shopping in town today. Then getting car and motorhome ready for tomorrow trip to Ogden, UT. Spent time visiting Arches NP yesterday. Turned out weather was great for the views. I climbed about 1000' to get a view of one of the Arches. I must be getting old. Had to stop and take couple of breaks on the way up. But the view was worth it. This is a wide angle picture of Delicate Arch.

I do not have a ZTR. But have a front mower and tractor mid mount mower. The tractor is the best ride. Front mower gets close and under almost everything. Did test of a ZTR when I bought front mower. Ride on them is terrible. I am with Drew, ZTR's are bad for the back.
