Drinking first cup of coffee. 64° with mostly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 66° with a few clouds and wind. Wife's doctor visit went well. Not much planned for today. Stay inside and avoid all the things that cause breathing problems.
Irv, take care of yourself.
RNG, weather does not look good for the mountain passes. Drive safe.
Drew, not staying in hotel/motels is one of the reasons we travel with our motorhome.
Good Morning All

44 this morning and headed to 63.

Plans for today got changed yesterday afternoon when the daycare called to say the boy had a 102.1 temperature at 3pm. So a quick run to the doctor and they're calling it the croop. So another words it's viral and will just need to run its course. Steroid treatment and manage fever. With wife having Professional Development yesterday and today I'm home with the boy. But we do have the blood samples from the cows to deliver to the lab. And somethings to do around the house.

I'm not really satisfied with the way the preg check went yesterday. Was only able to find the artery to pull from on 75% of the herd. But will take those samples in anyways. Had one cow get rowdy and break a latch in the head chute. So she's leaving. No calf. I'm not putting up with attitudes with kids around.

Glad coco is on the mend.

300 tough place to be. Hang in there.

Cool and breezy/windy today, warming later in the week, before cooling, before warming.:confused2:

44.4F and partly cloudy/sunny ... headed up to a high of 48F. High is supposed to be in the mid-60's for the next couple of days, then cool off again. Sunny tomorrow and then rain on Thursday.

Need to go renew the registration on the van today, probably drop by the LFS while I'm over that way and see if I can match up a replacement diaphragm for the air pump.

66°F and no rain last 24 hours.

Last day before our big trip. Last chance to review systems with our sitter.
We will not be back home until Apr 25 and upon reflection, don't think I have ever spent that much time away in vacation mode since my young single days in the Army back in the 60's.

Be safe
Have a great day

300, I'm convinced, most if not all families have a version of your sister as a relation, doesn't make it easier, but sometimes an empathetic nod goes a long way. Best of luck and be grateful that it is her life, not yours. I know sometimes I can even be thankful for my plate of burdens and wouldn't switch with anyone.

Drew, we upgraded to Stressless a few years ago when I got my knees done. My La Z Boy, 20+ yo was beyond gifting to anyone, beyond my repairing again. For us the Stressless was not an immediate sit and enjoy, quite a different chair. But I do like mine and can catch a nap in it. My wife still really doesn't care for hers and would not be supportive of getting another. She prefers the attached leg rest, not the separate stool, which I admit is my least favorite feature also. Relax and enjoy

Good afternoon,
Nice out today 60 and sun with little wind.
Took in all the crushed cans today. WOW the price of cans is in the dump. 55 gallon barrel full of crushed cans only got me $14.83 but at least they gone and not in the dump. Hardly worth saving them all year for that.

Good evening folks. Finely took the chains off of the tractor today. Hooked up to the trailer and picked up the sticks in my yard and my mom in laws, got a trailer load. Put the mower deck on and started mowing for the year. Just mowed for about 1/2 hr. Should be done in about 3 1/2 hr's more. Still need to take the homemade mulch plate off now that I have most of the leftover leaves chopped up.

Give Coco an extra treat for me. Glad she is on the mend.

RNG Be safe on your trip, Glad you had some toast with your stew. Ed

Should 2-4d be applied to your garden area a month before planting?

Not sure what your trying to kill but 2-4-D is a selective contact killer and won't kill grasses. If it was me for a garden, I would do an equivalent of Round-up about a week or two before planting. It kills everything but will not harm your new seeds and plants when put in. I only use 2-4-D to kill weeds in my yard and you want to do it when things are growing, not early.

The active ingredient for Round-up concentrate is 41 to 50% Glyphosate before diluting. It is also a contact killer so the plant needs to be growing for it to kill. I use this generic roundup on my lane and anyplace I am not worried about drift. Also as prep for the neighbors garden patch. It will kill everything so don't do it in the wind or around anything you want to live. But for a garden patch it will kill all weeds and grasses and you can go right in and plant within days of death. It does seem to take weeks to kill but the fact is it works much earlier than it seems.
With any herbicide read the label and then decide. BTW there are different kinds of Glyphosate mixes some will kill for months so be sure to read the label or ask someone at a farm service dealer that does spraying, they will know.
There are things like Preen weed killer that claim to kill before the plants come up but I am not sure I agree from what I have done and seen, but JMHO on that.
And by the way, if you drive over the Glyphosate mixes after you spray it and then drive across your yard it will leave tire tracks of death till where the tires wear it off. Don't ask me how I know!! :banghead: :banghead:

Thanks for the good thoughts, guys. Took my mower deck into a local guy that does sandblasting and painting. He quoted me a price of $75 for the job. I was quite happy with that! By Thursday, I should have it back.

My sister has been placed in a treatment program, as part of the sobriety court. I expect to hear back tomorrow. Hopefully it works.

Have a good one, guys!

Her desire will have to come from within. Society can only detox her whilst behind bars. Hope for the best. Put in the Lord's hands.

The rule of thumb is to wait one week per quart/acre of 2,4d before planting. So 1qt/acre=1week wait. But your ppi (pre planting intervals) will be on the label.

2,4d is a selective herbicide for broadleaf plants. It struggles with woody stems but will work at higher rates. Once above 80* be really careful as it is extremely volatile. It can vaporize and then drift off site once applied.

Glyphosate is a non selective herbicide. But it struggles with broadleaf weeds. At a high enough rate it will kill broad leafs. But using the proper chemical is better than just increasing rates and hoping. That's how we get resistance.

Good evening all. 56F this morning partly cloudy and breezy. Temp topped out at 71F, clouds increased to overcast and wind kept mostly blowing with an occasional slow up. Consulting, bike ride and finish mowing were on the short list.

300guy, you have my empathy, been there , done that.

RNG Mom may not get out of the hospital/rehab, so I may be doing the same thing soon, but with shorter commute.

David have a good vacation!!

I did a bit of $ recycling today also. I took a load, a big load, of my wife's books to Half Price Books, got $50.50 - Of course she then spent $7.50 on another book . . .and then we stoped by Barns and Noble and spent another $18.50 but I'm still in the black for the day and she has entertainment for another month.

On the first chapter of the non fiction book about the Galveston hurricane, Bering glacier in Alaska is being reported to be melting because of the rising temperatures during the extremely hot summer - the year 1900. So global warming started 116 years ago.
