34 and rainy (with a bit of ice, apparently) right now. High of 55 today.
Boss told me to stay home...probably a good decision on his part since I was intending to go in. Incision site is a bit achy...as to be expected.
I'd like to get a haircut today...doubt I leave the house though.

Better to have woodpeckers on a tree than your gutter. Course in England you can drink a woodpecker.
Roy, glad the boss saw it your way. My mom has a pacemaker, at 91 it's what's keeping her alive.

Like the peepers, been out awhile here.

Good morning. Just near freezing in Toronto this morning. Huge accumulations of ice from the ice storm yesterday afternoon and overnight. Over 90,000 people in Ontario are without power already and that number is expected to rise as The winds picked up around 8 o'clock or 9:00 AM.

Some places have over an inch of accumulated ice without melting, which will bring down a lot of trees and probably make quite a mess.!

39 this morning and headed to 59 today.

Need to go mail some papers. If the post office is open. Then go see about how they want me to fill out this jury duty paperwork. I doubt they want to stop a trial just because the chickens call. As I have nobody else that can respond. Then back to do some more decrusting as hopefully it has warmed a bit by then.

Roy. Take it easy. Enjoy the day. Good for your boss.

That's no good. Hopefully you still have power and keep it.

Reminds me of the January 2009 ice storm here. 2.5 inches of ice. People without power for close to 40 days.

Peepers have been singing here for over a month, off and on, we've been hearing bullfrogs from the creek for about 3 weeks, except on real cold nights. 65° now, lower 70's later before cooling off for a few days. Got to go see the orthopedic doctor this morning about my knee.

Too many cats? We have three, had 4 until our old boy Scooter had to be put down a couple of weeks ago, he was 17. Train them well, keep a clean box with fresh good quality litter and you won't know they're there.

Drinking first cup of coffee. 57° with mostly clear skies. Heading to 84° with mostly sunny skies. No plans for today. Just enjoy the great weather.
KevT, sorry about your sister. Prayers for her and family. Welcome back.
Roy, good plan to stay home for a few day.
RNG, it is sad how old age affects some people. In later years it was hard to tell if stories my mother told were true.
Drew, if you go to 30 amp. Make sure it is 120 volt and not 220. They look alike. But one has way to much voltage.
Good Morning All.

KevT so sad about your sister. That just leaves me without words. Prayers for you and yours.
Roy glad you got the day off. Best to heal up some more.
Randy, I like no litter box at all. Our cat thinks he is a dog. He goes outside to do his stuff then comes back in.

31 heading to 50 but sunny. Wife is on spring break so I slept in.

I have figured out what the state wants but can't figure out why they need it because I sent the stuff to them already. Always something.

Not sure what I will do today.

I just had a great visit to the pcp, my sugar level which I was stressing about showed a 5.8 AIC, which I'm told is normal. Yeah. 120/80 and yes I need to lose a little more weight. Whew.

off to clean the travel trailer. Rain stopped, pollen washed away temporarily, nice out and in low 70's.

37F and cloudy @ 11:00 ... high today is supposed to be 41F.

Took the bottom rake portion of the grapple over to U.B.'s to try to straighten it with his gas axe before I started to put the whole thing together ... that didn't go so well. All he has is I think a no. 1 tip for his torch (no rosebud) and he wasn't inclined to accept any input as to how I wanted it heated, or just allow me to do it apparently. We managed to get some of the bend taken out of it, but it still ain't like I want it. Did manage to get some metal cut out of the frost point/ripper tooth I built a number of years ago, so it will close up more when it's on the backhoe.

Texted another friend and found out he does have a rosebud for the new (to him) torch set he recently picked up. He says I'm welcome to use it, but that when he tried it he couldn't keep it lit ... so I did a little research on that ... need to find out the make of the torches and what size tip it actually is, so I can find a chart for the regulator settings. Also need to figure out a time when we can get together.

After that I worked on pulling some more of the wiring for some of the gauges out of the van ... might repurpose them to the Kubota if I can come up with a good solution for mounting them.

Squeak's been a little under the weather and out of sorts since she got her booster shot ... looking at the paperwork, she got the same dose as the larger cats ... dunno if that's right ... would think it would go by weight. Anyways she seems to be on the mend today ... she pretty much laid around all day yesterday, today she's up and moving around ... albeit gingerly.

Today's activities will likely include getting the second ozone generator pulled out and hooked up in the master bedroom bath, doing some running around, and mebbe getting up to the shed to do some more clean up/organize and/or starting to weld up some of the parts for the bottom half of the grapple.

Roy,

Glad to hear you caught it before a really bad outcome.

rswyan,
I would not worry yet about Squeak. Our cat is always lethargic for a day or two after the shots. Never fails.

Good Afternoon. 1410, light rain, 66F with 99% humidity. Forecast high of 75F with 60% chance of rain today, and a low of 60F tonight.

I got in a solid morning transplanting pepper, tomato, zucchini and crook neck squash this morning. Light rain off and on all morning. Even Farmer's Almanic said to transplant today. Could not have asked for a better day.

At work now. My part time co-worker cooked catfish and french fries in the cook shed. Margie had made us a nice chicken salad served on toasted rolls and a fresh fruit salad for lunch, which was very good. But who can turn down catfish, right?

You guys have a good one,

Larro

My cats, all but one have been trained to walk on a leash, I take them out fairly often, one that died in 2012 was a particularly good walker, knew his path and acted like a dog on the leash.

Catfish sounds really good right now. If my wife knew about it, she'd want me to drive her over there right now. Even though its an 800 mile trek. :)

need to find out the make of the torches and what size tip it actually is, so I can find a chart for the regulator settings.

A general rule of thumb is 2:1 oxy/acetylene. Keep in mind that acetylene is unstable over 15 psi and can detonate, but likely all you'll need is 10 psi oxy/5 psi acetylene. To to start the torch, turn on the acetylene until you can hear it hiss, then light it. Set the straight part of the flame from the torch tip to where is starts to feather out to about 2" in length. Then add oxy until you get a nice bright blue with feathers in the 1/4" to 1/2" range, depending on the tip. That should get you in the ball park. When you want to shut down, turn off the oxy first, then the acetylene. That avoids that obnoxious bang that wankers seem to love. Just remember two things: the hottest part of the flame is right at the end of the light blue flame, and never take a piece of metal from a welder if you don't have gloves on.
