I can't nobody else has stumbled upon a couple "consummating" their love for the outdoors. I was about 13 and it definitely left a memory!

Well, I've been on the other end of that situation at about 19yo.

I'll spare the details. It was a deal breaker for her when that guy rabbit hunting let out a war cry though.

I even knew the guy, thanks Larry!

That made me laugh out loud. War cry!

Well, I'll join in on the "derailed thread stories".... LOL!

Back in college I had a little 4WD Subaru that my girlfriend and I would drive up a railroad maintenance/access road by the tracks just off campus. It was pretty secluded and quiet, so we'd spread a blanket and look at the stars. :) One night the train went by and the engineer gave a little extra whistle as he went by. The guy in the caboose had a powerful spotlight that he shined on us as he went by.

Same girl, same car, same university... There was a little spot on campus where the frats and other groups would have bonfires and parties. She and I were up there by ourselves one night, parked in the car. I was so busy looking into her eyes that I didn't notice the campus cop that pulled up in front of us and suddenly turned on all his lights! Talk about getting caught with your pants down! Same girl, same spot a couple of weeks later - the weather was a little more conducive to being outside of the car, so we had a blanket about 75 feet away. This time we saw the cop turn off his lights and come zooming up the hill to where the car was parked. We laughed when he flipped on all the lights! I walked over there and it was the same cop as before. He was not amused when I suggested that we might want to be on a first name basis if he was going to keep joining us!

OK - back to "Things found in the forest".... :D

O.K.

Anyone find any box turtles lately? I haven't seen one in decades.

No box turtle but found a wood turtle crossing the dirt road leading to my field out back this summer. Funny, used to see more turtles years ago, now I'm happy to see them even once a year.

See them all the time in the woods...always see the tiny ones (not much bigger than a quarter) in the summer...
It's fairly steep here, it's amazing they can navigate places I've seen them...

Man I would love to see baby box turtles! Never seen one in my entire life. I used to find adults quite often when I was a kid. I found one on our property shortly after we bought it. But none since. I see thousands of turtles in local lakes and rivers. And in the summer I see their babies. But no more box turtles.

If you ever see babies in again, I'd sure appreciate a photo or two.

I stop and put them out of the road when it's safe to stop. They seem to be as plentiful around here as ever.

They're failing fast here. Only a few sustainable populations left in the state. Since 2004 its been illegal to keep them, or any part of them, unless you got it from another state that allows it and you have to keep the proof.

Will remember to get a picture when I see one later this year...not sure why but they seem to like to lay their eggs in holes they dig in the (gravel) road...?...unless they do it because it is somewhat flat...
