Gotta give him points for trying. Probably cost him about that much to clean up him mess if he hires it out. My guess is it will just sit there and in ten years, start to rot away

After a recent ice storm I hauled home about 20 times that much wood for free. I probably could have charged 1000 to haul it home.

I have found some good deals on Craigslist, but there are also guys like this.

There is a add on the local craigslist a guy wants you to pay him $10 per varmint he kills on your property.

Someone on the local craigslist wants to sell a barn door for $350. It is 4 boards wide with a couple boards nailed on the back to hold them together and don't forger the diagonal board that makes a beautiful Z shape. :thumbsup: Ed

This was before Craigslist, in the mid 80's. At our previous home I had a low spot that I wanted to fill in. I posted a sign by the road for "clean fill wanted". I got a call from a guy that said he had clean fill, I told him to bring it over. Then he told me "oh, I'm not delivering it, I'm putting in a sidewalk and I need you to come dig it out and haul it away"..........

I think the silliest was when I posted a notice for 2 cords free firewood. Oak and Walnut.
A guy called and asked if it was already split and when I could deliver it.
Suppose he wanted me to stack it for him too?

Of all the nerve! That tree guy charged me $1200 to cut down an old Cottonwood. It was only about 80-90 foot tall, 40 years old, and about 40 inches in diameter. Not to mention that it was only about 10 feet from our bedroom window, with a limb that extended out over my neighbor's house. And to add insult to injury, he sawed it up into burnable lengths, ran an ad and gave it all away! I have another almost as big that needs to come down! Craigslist here I come!

Actually if you do, you will have to post the results of the people that call, if they call.
I always wondered if these types of ads ever get any takers? And wonder if there are ever any bad results. Guy in need of wood agrees, things go wrong and tree falls on house, guy tucks tail and runs never to be heard from again?
No "actual" business with insurance etc is going to work for free.

Around here beavers are a problem but you cannot hunt them being protected.
Trapping is however permitted but then you need a trapper license which few folks have these days as pelts just do not pay.
That being said any remaining trappers are justified in charging a fee, usually in the $50. range.
A beaver pelt needs the be taken when prime and then it is barely worth pocket change.
Then we have problems with bears due to the current trash retrieval 3 bin policy. The bears just love that we are required to collect compostables in one bin that they collect weakly (and soon to be monthly in winter).
Collecting food waste in one dark bin concentrates odors that emanate from it.
One downside is if Mr Bear trashes your bin you are out of pocket to replace it as well and by law I am forbidden to shoot it.
Their answer is that we refrigerate or trash prior to pick up date.
It is all about saving the environment.
Must add that fines apply if those colorful bins are within view outside of the scheduled time frames.
