Winter is around the corner

When I lived in Maine, anytime after the second week of October, you had better be ready. It was a Karma thing because if you weren't ready it snowed big time and if the both the woodshed and larder were chock full it would be 70 into December. Plan on doing the winter prep in November and you paid a price for it.

In Ohio I've seen the township actually try to plow a half-inch of snow.

Came up this weekend to do some outdoor work before it got cold. It's 22 degrees with a dusting of snow...

My brother's best friend lives in Eastport. He liked my brother's car and floated the idea of replacing their 4x4 pickup with a car. "What would you want to do a damned-fool thing like that for?" :laughing:

I had to drive from Bucksport to Deere Isle after a snow storm and counted 22 pickups, 14 Subarus - and that was it.

Had our first fire yesterday morning, and another this morning. Went a lot better this morning; this idiot actually "closed" the damper when he thought he was "opening" the damper yesterday morning. Said idiot now will stick his head in the fireplace to verify damper position. Suspect sabotage from toddler during the summer months...
