Rescued a dog tonight.

I went to school in Barbourville, KY my freshman year and had a GF in the SW program doing an internship, and occasionally I used to go on home visit rounds with her.

I was shocked by the poverty, and alternated between amazed at the genteel nobility of some hill folks, and dismayed by the ignorance and cruelty of others.

My wife and I moved here in 2008 so I am far from an expert on things but you pretty much have seen what I see.

My wife and I had a long discussion about the motives of someone who dumps a pet. You know, why not take it to a shelter? The reality is that there are so many unwanted pets that the shelters have little financial choice but to kill them.

Ya know in what may seem to be a twisted, strange point of view on my part by some, I 'm kinda grateful that someone dumped a specific puppy . Otherwise, I would not have my wonderful female shepherd mix companion of twelve years . She found me primitive camping in the woods with friends one rainy, miserable night . Needless to say, she decided to keep me .

Ya know in what may seem to be a twisted, strange point of view on my part by some, I 'm kinda grateful that someone dumped a specific puppy . Otherwise, I would not have my wonderful female shepherd mix companion of twelve years . She found me primitive camping in the woods with friends one rainy, miserable night . Needless to say, she decided to keep me .

That was lucky for both of you.

South central, KY. It is a poor area. If you think animals are treated poorly based on my post, you should see what many kids have to deal with.

Working with both animals and children, I can say from experience that the analogy between the two are remarkable.
