It's not always so simple. You get disabled and whether you decide to sue or not can make the difference between whether you live a short and miserible life in a rooming house or in a large modern brick, range style bungalo with elevator to the basement and health care workers looking after you. There arn't many people who would do the "right thing" and choose the former.
I choose not to treat my friends as if they are the latter before they do anything to make me believe different. Sorry, I'm not that kind of person.
Oh, and I do have a sizable umbrella policy in the off chance that something bad happens.
