Yeah, we want data!!!!

It's not only the wide field view but the small sensor size in these Hero 4 type outdoors cameras. The 1"x2/3" sensors simply cannot compete with full frame sensors that have two or three times the area. The Hero type cameras are remarkable for being weatherproof and lightweight but the still photographs they produce simply don't compare with even what a $250 DSLR can crank out. The companies that take aerial photos use MUCH higher resolution cameras than that.
Very true... sensor size matters! Oh and just so someone doesn't get the wrong idea... the Hero camera itself is not waterproof... need a waterproof case, just like most all DSLRs.

wonder how many of those that want to shoot a quad copter would shoot the google car that drives by and records them? None, thought so.
Like others said, you might own real estate, but you don't own the air over your land.

With Google you only have to tell them to remove your house from the street view and it will be blurred out. Just like they blur out the people in their yards.
Google made the mistake of driving through a private community and had to blur out 134 homes.

Yep, you don't have to shoot them, just like you wouldn't have to shoot a drone, you could just ask nicely.

Speaking of painting barns, this was done on a barn a couple miles from me here in central MO. To keep it on topic, there is some drone footage of the painting. :)

How about drone owners not assume they have the right to invade others property/privacy with their toys.

With the argument that "you don't own the airspace" would allow a friend and I a few properties apart to install a zip line between our properties and glide over your property without any problem and take pictures. I don't think that would fly with many people.

Again, you are painting all drone owners with the same brush. Seriously, most drone owners have better things to do than fly around their neighbor's property and take pics of what their neighbor is doing.

Oh, and as long as you ask, and as long as your zipline is high enough to not cause any problems, bring it! Just be sure to share. Wait, never mind, I'm afraid of heights, so I don't need to ride, but enjoy. Heck, I let my neighbors ride their four wheeler on our land, just as they let us ride across their land to get to our land before we built our home here. Things have a way of working themselves out if you are kind and considerate to others.

As far as the four wheelers, I hope you have some good liability insurance. Not a chance in **** I would let anyone (short of immediate friends) ride anything on our land given the litigious climate of our day.

My neighbors = immediate friends.

My wife and I have known them since we were in grade school.

It's not always so simple. You get disabled and whether you decide to sue or not can make the difference between whether you live a short and miserible life in a rooming house or in a large modern brick, range style bungalo with elevator to the basement and health care workers looking after you. There arn't many people who would do the "right thing" and choose the former.

And not that I am naive enough to think that a "friend" won't sue you, it's just that I better know how these people operate equipment and what state (alcohol, drugs, and so forth) they are in.
