Good evening all. 76F this morning and clouds with enough drizzle to make wet spots in the driveway. Made it to 97F and mostly clear skies. Forecasters are saying the area will hit at least 104F by the weekend(+ HI of 4-5F). Had to go to town to pick up step daughter's mower, she is working 10-12 hour days M-F and 10+ between Sat and Sun. It is difficult to get in more than about 4 or 5 hrs. of work because of the heat, but did get back porch powerwashed today.

Roy good luck with the toe, hope they can save and not amputate.

RNG watering and mowing to bring rain won't work. That only works when you don't want it to rain. Like when Don and I hire Eric to weed wipe so it will rain won't work for us either  :2cents:

David how much rain are you expecting from the tropical storm?

Roy, good luck with the toe. Didn't get on here for a few days, really took awhile to catch up! Got some mowing and tree trimming done today, plus cleaned up after the storm. I have a bunch of white pines, and they seem to lose branches, or a whole top in this case. Have a good one!

Don't really know. Storm is currently projected to go north of us. Wx is so local here, a forecast won't target us. During this last storm (3 days) we got just over 8 inches while friends, about 10 miles as the crow flies and same elevation got over 10" one day and likely double us for the storm.

61 right now...high of 74 today.
Got a call from Dartmouth hospital for the vascular specialist. This was on the answering machine when I got home yesterday. I'll call today to see when I can get in. More news as I get it...

Morning Folks!

Roy I hope the specialist saves the toe, makes walking easier...

My boss is off on his honeymoon and wok is popping like mad, so it is all good.

After meeting my soon to be new sister's in law this Friday I will finally get to do some serious post logging cleanup. I need to prep before the bulldozer arrives to re-cut my fire roads...

Seems it is time to bush-hog again also. Too bad I'll never be able to afford to retire because maybe then I would have time for all my chores...

I talked to 4 different roofers and given the cost it seems what I really need is a fire, not really, but it does look like I'm going to ask another couple of builders about how can we almost start over. Fixing the roof without finishing the unfinished stuff, and fixing the electric, plumbing, HVAC, and other issues seems not so smart... We shall see what the Good Lord has in mind though. So far his plan has been better than mine...

Be well all, and stay well.
David

I have noticed my wife often says "Who" instead of "You". Possibly it is all part of the ex-teacher inquisition technique. My latest misdemeanour :-

"Who left the gate open ?" , to which I replied "Oops, sorry miss, I think it was me".

And when I looked, the gate into the field from the house was indeed open. Couldn't blame it on the dog, it had to be me that hadn't fully closed the bolt. No 4 legged white things in sight, however the evidence was all there - nibbled pot plants and in the mini orchard, baby apple trees stripped of their juicy growing tips.

Even worse, she pointed to a trail of poo around the other side of the house, across the yard and going up to the lane that leads to the road. I got the car out and did a tour around, looking for escapees along the roadside, in people's driveways and the cemetery. Fortunately nothing. When I returned my wife had gone into tracker mode and declared all the evidence pointed to lambs and no ewes. She surmised they had probably turned back of their own accord one they heard the neighbour's dogs.

Drama over - fortunately I didn't get lines, or sent to stand in the corner of the room.

So there is this 1-800 number on the vac and I figure maybe I can describe the problem and get a part shipped out. The person wants the serial number I give it to him and he says the 5 year warranty is still good for another month - what a day! I'm shipping it to them on their dime - one headache gone.

That sort of thing just doesn't happen to ordinary people, you must be one of those born with luck. Is there an extended warranty gene in your DNA ?

Done drinking my limit of coffee for the day. 58° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 76° with mostly sunny skies. Took my sister to the airport this morning. We got my mother in Hospice care. Daily visits have been mostly good for a 96 year old who has been threw a lot. Debating whether I should cut lawn today.
Roy, sorry to hear about your toe. Hope they do not have to remove it.
Eric, leaving a gate open? Maybe you need to tie a string around a finger to help you remember.
Larro, nice garden.
Good Morning All.

67, looking for 92 and sunny.

Yesterday's storm missed us, as has most lately...no significant rain since July 12, and you can tell looking at the lawn and fields...so different than June when things were lush. 3 or 4 weeks with no soaker this time of year is not unusual, but had hoped this year would be different. Eric - I need your weed wipe.

Don, my refrigerator is making a funny noise - I need you to call it in for me :).

I never did kill off the bald-faced hornet nest under the tool shed overhang - been enjoying watching them build it. But, this morning encountered my first one this year on one of the hummingbird feeders while refilling it. Need to take action.
