Also can you tell me what your wall height is in your loft?

From floor to ceiling is 80" at the wall. 2' out from the wall it is 8' to ceiling, and floor to peak in the center of the loft is 16'

Thanks Dave. Now if they would only close the voting. Lol. I imagine there will be several hundred votes to go.

Mainly posting so I can continue documenting our build as we wrap up loose ends or work on additional projects. Here is the basement as it sits tonight. We started on it last Tuesday so we've made really good progress in a week. Installed all of my lighting today with the exception of 3 can lights where the grid need finished up. Ceiling should be wrapped up tomorrow and we should be ready to measure for carpet.

Ceiling is finished. Just waiting for light trim to show up that we ordered. I was also able to wrap the post supports today. Should be about 2 weeks on carpet.

We measured for basement carpet today. Should be installed next week. For now it's back to working on finishing the timbers on the back of the house. Here's where I left off today. This has to be one of my least favorite things I've worked on so far.

looking good! What are you using for finish on the exterior timbers?
I used a semi-transparent stain/water repellent and most of it has been weathered off from the hail storms we have received the last two years (need to retreat it this fall).

I checked out your kitchen 2015 Readers' Choice Awards - Timber Home Living and it is over 100 votes in 1st place :)

Just like general elections "vote early, vote often"!

I'm using Pittsburgh semi transparent oil based stain. Ive used it in the past on some outside stairs and railings and it has held up pretty well.

From my experience I'd suggest that whatever finish used it wants to have a fungicide incorporated.
Especially important if humid or shaded areas.

Needs correction, just upped by one more vote!

That is the same brand I used - it has held up well from sun/rain, but the hail has put little marks all over it - not any damage to the wood, just removed the color. I notice that rain still beads up even where the color is removed.

Just checked on the readers choice status and you are now in 2nd place! wow:)
