Good morning!!!!

62F headed to 68F and passing showers today, some of which are on our doorstep now according to the radar.

Guess I'll make a grocery run this morning before the July 4th rush. The weather forecast looks pretty good here for the holiday weekend.

wngsprd, I do till between the asparagus rows in spring once or twice. I've never tried lightly tilling over the root clusters. Not sure about that. In Germany and France they hill the asparagus such that the stalks never reach daylight, then harvest it from the ground. Grown that way it is very pale-whitish in color and more mild in taste. They serve it with a Hollandaise-type sauce and the gourmet types go nuts for a couple weeks.

Roy, hope you get a break soon.

Good morning, 63F heading to 73F with clear skies predicted. Happy Canada Day to my TBN Canadian friends.

Dave, thank goodness for that info. I'll set my alarm clock to make sure I don't miss it. Hmmm, doesn't have a billion year setting...;) We humans, if we survive, will be on far away planets by then. Somehow I don't think you'll find that pic posted on the wall of any Catholic Church...

You can run but you can't hide from the Big Rip or Big Freeze, or whatever happens unless you can escape this universe--assuming there is somewhere to escape to. :D The enduring questions for humans; how did we get here and why, where are we really, what else is "out there", and what happens eventually? All religions that I'm aware of attempt to supply answers to those questions as a primary basis for their existence. We've been pondering over those questions for a long time.

Good Morning. 0755, partly cloudy, 74F with 94% humidity. Forecast high of 88F with 20% chance of rain today, and a low of 74F tonight. I woke to the sound of thunder, but didn't start humming a tune from when I was one year old. Margie went to work early to miss the weather, but we never got any rain out of it. Bad one came through yesterday afternoon. Took part of the roof off the Ford place in Blountstown and took down lots of big trees, including one where Margie parks behind the Courthouse. A rock cracked the windshield on her new Prius yesterday morning. If she had been parked in her usual spot when that tree came down, she wouldn't have been so upset about the crack:eek:

I'm doing the pre-cleaning lady cleaning this morning. The garden needs hoeing, but it will have to wait. With the last seven days of rain, the weeds and grass are taking off for the first time this year.

The 4th being on a Saturday has pushed my work week back. I go in tonight to set up for a 2 day family reunion on Thursday and Friday. I don't know when it happened, but this year is half gone. 18 months until Margie retires, and I start looking for part time jobs. {one for her, and one for me}

but what would be the answer to the answer man?

Yikes! Close call on the Prius. Smashed Prius vs cracked windshield, that is something to feel better about. :D

Two day family reunion?--best to get under your desk.

Answers are in short supply. But, geneticists say all blue-eyed people have a common ancestor from about 6,000 to 10,000 years ago when the mutation occurred that prevented melanin formation in the iris--in case you've been needing to know. :)

If only the Answer Man had a Twitter account.

84F @ 7:10AM, very warm for this early. A mix of clouds and sun. High near 110F. Winds WSW at 10 to 15 mph. Yesterday the temps made it to 107F and stayed above 100 until the sun set. Whew, like walking around in an oven. More of the same for today and tomorrow, cooling to double digits for the weekend.

Drew, Kev's right: true angle iron doesn't have a square shape on the inside of the legs. But you may be able to find an aluminum molding that does. If not, it's gonna be one of those cut'n'fit deals.

David, there's no place like home. Sometimes coming home is the best part of the trip!

Yesterday Dr. found "dry spots" on lower third of cornea, says eye still isn't closing all the way. He didn't seem concerned, and scheduled the next appointment for a year out. Sure hope I'm over this by then!!!

Highlight of yesterday was paying fifteen bux EACH for two alternator brushes. NOT! Haven't looked closely, but they must be made of gold...

Happy Hump Day!!!

It is pretty much the norm with black families. Some even do the Friday, Saturday and Sunday thing. It comes from their family being so scattered that it is often the only time all year they see each other. Most take a week's vacation at that time. It is not uncommon for them to have printed agendas for the activities. Some of the biggest fusses I have ever seen at work is when there is a power struggle over who is going to be on the different committees for the next reunion. With white folks, we just eat, talk a while and go home.
