How does your garden grow?

It's not big but the two of us eat a fresh salad every night. And I don't have to bend over to harvest or weed it!

Looks good Paul. My Mamma is after me to empty the old cow water trough so she can use it for a planter. Those troughs cost so much though, I'm trying to find something else for her to use.

We cut a sun burned melon last week, and I ate a couple of split ones in the garden this week, but this is the first one that was ripe and right. Very good.

I noticed the first tomato turning pink today. Granted it is a cherry tomato but anything counts.

Our cherry tomatoes are coming in fast, and we picked the first few Roma tonight. The last few days of rain has the Beefsteak splitting before they are good ripe



Between 10 hours of the soaker hoses right on the drill, and off and on rain for four days, the peas are coming up. Still only one sprout of the Armenian cucumbers though.

This morning before work I worked in the garden a while. I saw Sugar Baby melon and Golden Queen sweet corn sprouts. Still no sign of any squash sprouts though. Disc up a spot and planted three rows of saved Crimson Sweet seeds.

Squash and Charleston Grey's are coming up good now. We have had rain everyday for about a week now.

Has been an interesting year for my Tomatoes this year. Plants started off great, got some good spring rains, put on some good blooms and fruit.....and then it got HOT. I have had a lot of Blossom End Rot, but now the plants have taken on some blight or wilt and are checking out. Sad thing is they are loaded with fruit, and I hope it can vine ripen before the plants are gone. Here are some pictures:

Has been an interesting year for my Tomatoes this year. Plants started off great, got some good spring rains, put on some good blooms and fruit.....and then it got HOT. Sad thing is they are loaded with fruit, and I hope it can vine ripen before the plants are gone.

I'm having a bad year for tomatoes too. We planted some in pots to help with the wilt, and it is not as bad this year. But they are all splitting and rotting on the vine before they get ripe. I have to pick them as soon as they start to turn, and let them ripen in the house. They are just not as good that way.

It has rained everyday for a week straight. I'm sure that has something to do with it.

In the better late than never section of the garden, the acorn squash seeds I got free from the Farmer's Co-Op {out of date} are all coming up after I had given up hope for them. In fact I have a much better stand of them than the ones I bought at Lowe's. Go figure.
