Well said. That was my impression too, that this is the last trip for that Mercury as well as its cargo.

It's a weird feeling when you're coming to a stop sign on a slight down grade and it looks like you may not stop, so you give it a little more brake pressure. Suddenly you are stopping quicker because that pallet of cement is holding your wheels to the ground but it isn't stopping, just the truck is slowing down. Then suddenly it feels you have been rear ended but it's just that pallet sliding into the front of the bed pushing it into the backside of the cab! I didn't want to go into the intersection as it is 2 lanes cross traffic and as the CHP is always coming down that road so with my luck I would have done it right in front of them.

lol. I saw something similar with an old 90's Ford Taurus driven into the scrap yard that way.
The car was scrap as well. He had someone following behind him in another car to give him a ride home.
He had the back seat and trunk full of scrap and some on front passenger seat.
The car was struggling to go down the road and was overheating when he got to the scale.
He didn't have it loaded down as much as the one in the pic with that many appliances but he did have a few appliances and a few push mowers on top.
I talked to him and luckily he was only going about a mile from his house to the scrap yard. He didn't know if the car would make it there but he didn't have a trailer to haul it.
