Tractor
2015 Mahindra mPower 75
Anyone out there own an M7060 (or 6060 for that matter) tractor?
Considering the mPower 75 or the Kubota 7060...wanting about 60-75hp...4wd...thinking a 6' or 7' cutter that can handle up to 3" saplings...plan on being in the woods with it some so no cab...
I am not sold on the Mahindra brand yet, but after talking to a local dealer, he has convinced me they are much better getting parts now...warranty seems to be about the best in the market. I know research on the web tells me Mahindra and Kubota are about the best tractor out there now?
Tractor is VERY heavy...almost too heavy if that's possible? I will be hauling the tractor with FEL and cutter to and from my farm, which is about 65 miles for about 7 years until we move there permanently. That makes the nearly 1,000 lb. lighter Kubota a little more attractive.
I was quoted cash prices of about $33,000 for mPower 75 with Mahindra loader and tires loaded...$35,000 for Kubota with cast iron rear wheels and tires loaded with Kubota loader.
Research tells me Kubota is the creme de la creme of tractors right now...I have dealer support for either very close to my home and farm.

Any and all input greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Scott

I don't have either, but have maybe some valuable input. I have a M7040HD-1 with loader. It is an excellent machine. The engineering on kubota stuff is outstanding. Just for reference, the max 3pt capacity at 24" is 1500 lbs on that model. I have a Woods 6ft rotatory cutter, which is a BB720X. That cutter weighs about 1200 lbs. The tractor pulls it well, and has plenty of HP for 5ft tall, super thick grass.

If I were to do it again though, I would have bought a cutter that is not quite so heavy duty. The cutter is a lot for the machine.

I also don't have either, but my input may be interesting. I have an M7040HD-1 that is the older version of the M7060. My M7040 in my opion is an excellent machine for it's size easy to run, excellent handling, and power. I just got done with a custom bush hogging job of 30 acres that was overgrown with sprout's up to 5" in size and grass that was 7' tall and thick as dog hair this ground had nothing done to it for over 5 years so it was quite the mess it also required the use of a respirator at all times while working. I have a BUSH HOG MODEL 296 that weighs app.1200 lbs. The tractor had no problem with what it encountered and yes it was a slow go but no problems with anything. I ran the tractor at full RPM'S (2,750) at all times and FUEL USEAGE was outstanding. So far me it proved that the M7040HD-1 is well made. As far as the M7060 I would buy one in a heartbeat over the MAHINDRA.

Great reply... That's almost exactly my first task, 25-30 acres that hasn't been touched in 3 years...tall and THICK

quik question. why are you considering both cast iron rear wheel and loaded rear tires on the kubota esp. if you are considering weight as transportation concern? imho don't need both options. also worth considering twin spindle hog options since you are on the drawing boards @ this point. a far smoother operating machine than single spindle 7' model.....just look @ pto hp requirements of each mower option (& of course weight, may be approaching max for the 7060).... much cheaper now to consider every option than to jump the gun in the buying frenzy. just go heavy duty mower (bush hog, rhino, land pride hd versions are great)if you have several yr growth.would steer clear of TSC Howse & other consumer versions, etc..... best regards
also...3" saplings is a tall task

I think buck boost got his lbs and kgs mixed up. The M7040 max 3 point capacity at 24" out is 3307 lbs or roughly 1500 kgs.

Salesman recommended it that way...I was surprised for him to say both, was under the impression loaded regardless, but he ordered these 7060s with cast iron wheels...I'm tractor ignorant, this came from a tractor salesman at a huge dealer with over 30 yrs experience supposedly.
He priced me a Woods heavy duty 6' that would cut 3" comfortably.
I greatly appreciate the advice...
Mahindra dealer recommended a 7' heavy duty Mahindra cutter rated to cut 3" as well...Mahindra HD84.

As for the weights which I confused regarding tractors alone...Kubota 5100...Mahindra 7100 lbs

think you should consider hiring out initial work, then look at your own future mowing/transport options. trying to get it all in 1 may be too big a task esp w/3" growth. may be cheaper & less labor intensive in long run....let us know how it goes

I'd get a 7' mower or twin spindle 8'. The 6' would probably be to narrow for the tractor. Atleast it would be behind my deere.

I'd get a Kubota way before I got a mahindra

Must admit, after a long day of hitting dealers today, that was exactly what was running through my brain... I paid a friend to do it once for $600... It may be worth the money to pay for initial cut. Old man living near my place wanted almost $1000 to do it five years ago. I don't like taking advantage of friends... Have cash in hand and really wanted to start taking care of my place myself for a change.
I've actually kept the drive, which runs from front to back, two hunting areas, and a shooting area mower down with zero turn mowers... So basically about 5 acres mowed down, rest will be knocked down with tractor.
I considered a smaller tractor but I'd rather get the bigger one now with plans of getting a 12'+ bat wing eventually.
I really do appreciate your replies... I'm not afraid of admitting my tractor ignorance.

As long as the cutter is capable of knocking down whatever is put in front of it, I'm game. Many of the multiple spindle cutters I've looked at were rated to cut up to 2" when many of the heavy duty cutters are rated at 3"+... Saw one super heavy duty rated at 4"

Looking at the Mahindra web site, the M75 does not appear to have an option for a hydraulic shuttle and does not have a limited slip front differential.

What big bubba said, we have as our primary tractors an L5740HSTC and M8540 HDC pulling a 6' and 10' cutter rated for 3" stuff and have cut areas like you described, but a couple of years ago rented a tracked skid steer to doze some of the heavier areas, even with our tractors and cutters that will handle that stuff, running heavy brush and 3"+ all day is hard on the machine and your nerves. If we hadn't been running tractors most of our lives, we would have hired it done.

As to the cast wheels and loaded tires, we have wheel weights and fluid on the 5740, but fluid only on the 8540. I initially considered weights or cast wheels on the 8540 and for some it's great, but we haven' felt the need.

Transmission options are the Mahindra dry backs in my opinion. They should offer both hydraulic shuttle and more gears. I have a Mahindra 7520, (2005 model of model that you are considering) as far as the limited slip front end, I do not know for sure that the M75 has it or not, just that there is no mention of it for my tractor and my tractor has it. Many people consider and are probably correct that the hydraulic clutch lasts longer than a std clutch, but Mahindra uses twin disc ceramic clutch plates, so wear is very much reduced compared to a std clutch. But you still need to clutch when changing directions, :( not that that is that big of a deal to me anyway.

The Kubota is probably a more refined machine, but I would bet that the Mahindra will out work it. I would bet money that mine would.

Just my :2cents:

The Mahindra may well outwork the Kubota, but we traded our Case CX80 with synchronized shuttle-shift and no limited slip front differential and were really surprised at how much difference it made. Now if our Case had been dependable, we wouldn't have traded for those features, but buying new, it would have been a deciding factor; often depends on what you're doing and your priorities.

Thanks for the replies... At this point, I'm almost regretting the fact I've researched this purchase for over a year... Feeling like I would've been better off just buying one without doing so much research. I honestly don't think I'll go wrong with either
Just wanted to hear from ppl with these, or similar tractors.
I've got about three weeks to decide before I buy.
