Massey scut 2015 GC1715
Greetings,

I've decided and initially ordered a GC1715 with a unique deck. Recently I learned I should plan on adding at least 1 remote to the front and possibly 1 remote to the rear. I'm familiar with the LandPride electric 3rd valve . . and my sales rep mentioned that option too.

However someone else suggested I have the dealer install one or a pair of remotes that allow full control rather than just diversion of flow. He'd suggested I get a pair right away because labor is about the same for one or two. Or can it be ordered from Massey that way.

The goal is to keep costs of adding a remote/remotes down . . but not lose capability or make it look less than factory fresh.

Ideas . . Opinions . . Suggestions ???

If you want the remotes to look factory, then best to add the factory sets. Hold on to your wallet.

Well my dealer's service manager is inquiring with Massey to see if they have an item that solves the need. If not we start looking for a valve option that is actual valves from others sources and not the several choices of "electric over hydraulic valve" which are the 3rd but less desired option. Though those items do work . . They operate like a light switch (on then off) whereas a regular valve offers feel and degree of pressure.

I felt like a rookie when I dived into this "remotes" scenario but then I found that experienced people were a little foggy on the issue too. I assume on bigger tractors this is far less of an oddity than it is on the sub compacts.

Have to say . . I'm sure surprised how many vendors make the electric over hydraulic 3rd valves . . 2 weeks I could only name LandPride and now I know 6 more and counting :)

You need to keep in mind the difference between electric over hydraulic and an electric diverter. The electric diverter gives you the function as the typical manual valve, because it is. I was not aware that Land Pride offered an electric over hydraulic unit. I thought that all they offered was an electric diverter system.

I think that your problem with 3rd party manual valves, it is going to be very difficult to have them appear as a factory item. Most commonly they are mounted externally and not integrated into the tractor as is most common with factory supplied systems. One of the things to keep in mind if you end up going 3rd party valves is the quality of the valve that you get. They are not all the same.

Good luck with your project.

See now this is just when I feel like a rookie. I thought the Landpride was just an electric diverter and others I taled to refer to them as electric over hydraulic.

I share that concern if we have to look at 3rd party valves because they would look clunky imo. I'll be surprised if it turns out Massey doesn't have an option . . because it would seem so natural to have a multi gang valve for the front end loader etc.. And I heard the service manager ask someone else about if rear remotes were available. Again I would think it would be very common need . . for rear blade with hydraulic tilt or hydraulic top link or rear snowblower with hydraulic tilt etc. etc..

I'm also a bit surprised at the costs of remote options. Hoping to hear back this week that Massey has a valve option for the GC1700 series.

Somehow I sense I'm exploring territiry that long ago would have been resolved with the gc2300/2400 product lines.

Ok, so people you have talked to are calling the LP unit electric over hydraulic. :confused2: Sort of gives you an idea of what people know and think that they know. The diverters would need to be plumbed in with your loader, typically the curl circuit. I agree with you as far as the true electric over hydraulic valves, last case option in my mind. :sigh:
