Just a nod to the positive for the new 3 n 1 blower/vac they came out with.. I used a 20% off coupon and got it for 39.99 Friday.. (I know they had a 25% off for Sunday but hey I didn't need to be in the dawg house on Mothers day.) Anyway back to the new toy, It works much, much better than I thought it would. It has a lot more force than I thought it would.. First throw away the little end reducer, many of the reviews said the same thing and I tried using it several ways and it just takes too much out of it. It did an excellent job blowing whatever I wanted wherever I wanted it to go. Completely voided the front flower gardens of all old mulch!!! Ok so for the mulching vacuum side. It also worked great. I mean phenomenal! It has great suction and I reduced a pile of wet leaves 9' round and 3 foot tall into a single Yard sized trash bag.. Now many of the reviews said this was a dusty proposition and they were correct.. but DUH! you are moving an immense amount of air and crushing sticks large and small along with anything else it can swallow with a high speed plastic fan, that air has to go somewhere! So wear a dust mask, final answer. The bag fills up quickly its not because it is terribly small it is because it is a stick, leaf eating machine it doesn't mess around. I did have to turn it off a few times to let the tube clear as most of my leaves were still wet in the center of the pile but it didn't hesitate to start eating them again as soon as air pressure was low enough for them to slide back out of the tube and I started again. One of the biggest negatives on the reviews was that when using it as a mulcher that debris and dirt got in the switch. either they changed the design or ? my switch was a smooth operating as it was the day before and I cannot see how any dirt debris will get into that part of the handle. All in all, not as powerful as my big backpack machine but a lot lighter and my backpack machine doesn't mulch.
It could have a better cord keeper so I still had to knot the extension to make it stay plugged in or I could have been smarter and pulled enough cord to where I was going by hand.. either way.. It was surprising and if it last a season it cannot be beat for $4O I don't care how good a big brand machine is the return on investment for $40 is a keeper.
