I don't know the answer to that; but you've got me curious...I will add this: Ford developed a V12 OHV aircraft engine (never used) about that time but later converted it to a 1100 cu in V8 which was used in the WWII Sherman Tank. What a monster!

I thought most Sherman tanks were powered by a 9 cylinder radial. ???

Ford produced lots of different engines, The one I ask about was really cute. but looked almost the same as the V85.

Is no one going to guess on the 60s American passenger car that was super charged ?????

I seem to remember the Studebaker Avanti as being supercharged from reading a book by Andy Granatelli some years ago about his Indy racing days.

I still haven't seen the answer to the original question. What car was it? Tucker?

The small Ford flat head engine was named the
V60 It was basically a smaller version of the V8 or V85.

2 Versions of the Corvette had a super charged engine.

The other car even had a book written about it & hearings before congress.
Come on folks its pretty easy if you think.

New question.

There are 2 types of engine ignition in common use & well know. Spark & compression.
There is a 3rd type with thousands of engines built every year. They are sold and made wold wide.

What is it.???

I recall reading many years ago, that some early IC engines used a flame igniter system, although I cannot recall an example.
