25 right now and probably a little snow today (<1") mixed with rain. It's supposed to hit 44, so the snow shouldn't last long...

You guys are early risers. I couldn't sleep, so I got on here for a bit. Think I'll try to get a little more sleep.

47 heading to 75 and the last forecasted sunny day this week.

I'll try to get my last field bush hogged today before the likely rain this week...with luck may even find time to hike to the river with my flyrod.

Glad to hear most had a nice Easter...sorry about your family having the flu...and Ron, bummer having to get a new PC.

Seems like the weekend slip by in blink of eye and now the work week begins.
Not all that much thawing/melting over the weekend. :(

Enjoy the day all.

47 high of 70 today and if weatherman is telling the truth rain shower and storms all week

All gravel is in except for last 10 feet that I did not dig wide enough. Also got a little dig happy supposed to be 13 inches deep and towards the end I'm afraid im closer to 18 inches no matter more gravel equals more support. May run out of gravel in any case drain will be here Wednesday

Good Morning

Good morning! About 30 this morning and still have a bit of frost here, but forecast is for 70 today so we should be having a beautiful Monday. I heat my place with a Harman Stoker coal stove and it's always hard to determine when to shut it down for the year. This time of year it's too hot when it's running and too cold at night without it. It's been running steady since late October, but I think today will be the last for the season.

Good morning and yet another misty start.
We had friends over to stay yesterday and when the mist cleared we drank beer in the afternoon sun and wine in the evening. Together with having the family here for few days too, it's made a long and enjoyable Easter break and I'm only feeling slightly guilty at the jobs that have been put back a few days.

Is that brush on the outside of the fence a hedgerow?

No, the fence and brush are owned by the railroad. They don't do much with it. Some years they spray and kill everything off. Mostly it grows rampant and throws weed seeds my way when the wind is from the south or east. I do have traditional hedgerows on my other main boundary fence and between most of the fields.

So the dog becomes redundant. He uses his redundancy payout the retrain as a gate closer and you employ him again. That is, unless you intend to walk all the way across the paddock just to close the gate.

:) Think dog knows I wouldn't really replace him with a drone - he'd only go and squander redundancy on chicken burgers.

46 out now, going up to 75 today in clouds and sun.
In the previously mentioned spirit of "taking it off" and "shutting it down",
my phd comes off today after digging almost 90 holes, and the rear finish mower goes on.
I might even mow the orchard field a little. Only a few parts need it, but hey, it's seat time...
Also going to give the tractor a bath today.

Pollen is starting to come down and even have to shut the garage doors so it doesn't blow in. With my allergies, windows on the house stay closed, which this time of year is a shame since it's so nice out. I opened the kitchen window for a few hours and then could write my name on the sill in the pollen. End of that idea. I found that wearing a hat is important or otherwise I have to shower every day just to get the pollen out of my hair. Ah choo.

It was 37 out this AM. Week looks to be warm, in the 70's, but with rain moving in. The grass is green, and probably in a week, the mowers will come out. I need to get more efficient in my mowing, perhaps a ZTR is in the mix within the month.

Have a great day all!

Good Morning! 68˚ partly cloudy heading to the 80s. The prevailing wind is from the Gulf of Mexico this morning which keeps us warm and humid.

Crimson clover is not a normal winter cover crop around here. Rye and oats are. When I bought the expensive seed one local said sarcastically "Good luck with that".

The rains hit just right this winter.

Fast forward 5 months and it's a pretty green and red garden. After I get my seed back I'll till it in and plant watermelons. It did it's job by adding natural nitrogen to the sandy soil and gave me pretty. It's so deep and thick (no fertilizer was added) that Whipper has to jump to move around in it.
