If it freezes you can quit it without shutting down the computer by going to Task Manager, then click Firefox, then End Task. (If you have Windows right click in the bar at bottom of screen.)

Also, do this if your Firefox is getting slow. I did it and it helped hugely...

Go to Help>Troubleshooting Information>Refresh Firefox. (Refresh Firefox is in the top RH corner of the final screen)

Just wondering if anyone else has tried this.. and what result they got.

Also Flash has been causing me a lot of grief, crashes on Youtube, hangs etc for about the last 6 mths. Not much I can do but grin and bare it. Im up to date and it still does it, just a little less. Thankfully Youtube is moving away from flash to HTML5. Cant happen soon enough.
Same here, I switched flash to be "always ask to run" and Firefox has been happier. As a bonus, videos no longer auto play when I open a new page :D

I have done it in the past. I generally go to Task Manager, open the Processes tab and close the process named plugin-container.exe first. That closes all Firefox plugins (Flash, Java, etc) and will sometimes fix things.

Have you tried the Firefox Refresh thing.

(Go to Help>Troubleshooting Information>Refresh Firefox. (Refresh Firefox is in the top RH corner of the final screen))

Not that way. I have backed up my saved passwords and bookmarks, then deleted my profile folder and started a new profile (only re-importing my passwords and bookmarks). The problem often comes back to a add on causing Firefox to lock up (and its usually Flash).

My problem with both FF and Thunderbird is, from time to time they will lock up and I get the message FF or TB are not responding. I haven't figured out why, and I've been through several updates with both of them. That don't last for more then 30-45 sec but it's a pain.

Also, why are you asking for computer advice on a forum about tractors?:tractor:

And why would a Newby with only 2 posts ask such a question without checking out the forums and observing the questions, answers and general themes of the forums? If you're looking for a pizz fight or an argument of some kind, try the "Friendly Politics" forum.

I was having the same problem with Thunderbird last week. After installing the new Flash update Thunderbird has been working fine.

I have refreshed FF this way. It does remove add ons so you'll have to reinstall things like Adblock plus. It also defaults to the FF home page and removes the menu bar from the top of the screen.

I am running Firefox 36.0.4 on my Windows Vista PC and it has never given me any problems... The only thing I could suggest if all else is failing it to uninstall and reinstall Firefox, although this would mean that you'd lose all your bookmarks and active log-ins.
