To TBN from Alabama. I take it that you are into flying? How much land do you have? Is that strip on your property?

Yes, my dad and I both fly from our private strip on our ranch right next to "Bear Butte" north of Sturgis. We operate about 5000 acres. Anyone heading to Sturgis/Black Hills feel free to PM me...

I thought so as it looked like a private strip. Are you multi-engine rated also?

No, both myself and my dad are private - single engine. We also fly an RV-9 that we built together...

Can't miss that one with those colors. Was it a kit?

Yep, Vans RV9 kit. Cruises at 180 mph., very nice flying FUN airplane... Paint scheme inspired by my then 2 yr. old son's toy hammer :) Didn't want to blend in with all the other plain white airplanes out there!

Yes, most RV9's are white. Did you get the 160hp engine? What was the difference in cost for the RV9A?

We have a Barrett 180hp engine with Catto three blade prop (nice combo). I think the cost difference between the 9 and 9A was minimal, we just prefer the tailwheel here on our ranch, and that is what we are familiar with from flying the citabria...

I see you are retired airforce, are you also a pilot, what do you fly? Feel free to PM me, my dad and I welcome all pilots (and tractor owners) to our ranch and love visitors!
