John Deere F1145
Just wondering if anyone still runs John Deere F935 or F1145 front mowers here. I have an F1145 and it sure is an awesome machine. Mine is an 1999 model with 1700 hours.

I have an 1994 F935. It has about 2200-2300 hours. Awesome machine. I'll never have spark plug or carburetor issues with it. I paid $5000 for it and it will outlast many $2500 mowers. I will never have to buy another mower. This one will last me the rest of my life.

In spring I start it up and service it and start mowing. If I start off in spring with full fuel tanks I only need to fill them up once a season. I could go on and on. Yup I'm pretty happy with it.

Mine was bought from a guy who bought it from the local MetroPark system as a fairway mower. All I've done is new glow plugs, new fuel pump, cleaned out the fuel tanks, and replaced the motor to trans driveshaft isolator. I use a Woods leaf vac with it to suck leaves, sticks, nuts and other lawn debris. I have added an auxiliary gearbox to run farm type pto equipment, even my 50 KW alternator. Even though its only about 22 hp, there is plenty of grunt there to run my whole outfit. PIC00016.JPG

I have a 1998(?) F932(gas powered version of the 935). Tough little mower and leaves a nice finish. I've been beating on it for 7 years doing a small grass cutting contract maintaining rural properties around radio towers. The ground is basically old farmer's fields with prairie grass. A far cry from the golf turf it was designed for! Yet it handled it like a champ. Biggest issue was always traction. Had a few steep hills I couldn't mow up if it got there in the morning with dew on the grass, got stuck a few times in low spots that were still wet from spring rains. After the first week winter of trying to use it for snow removal(I have a snow brush for it) I gave up and parked it till spring, just not enough traction.

Last year the gear box on the mower deck seized up, I think a seal let go and the oil leaked out. I replaced it with a JD 2720 with a 72" belly mower. I wanted something with a 3pt hitch and loader that would be more versatile around my acreage. I love the new tractor but it doesn't cut as well as the F932 did. The grass is always long when I cut it and the front wheels on the 2720 lay the grass down before the MMM gets to it, later on, it stands back up and I end up leaving 2 strips of grass behind. With the deck out front this wasn't an issue for the F932.

Ideally I'd like to get a smaller(60") deck for the F932 and use it cutting in around the tight areas around my house and trees and then use the 2720 for the wider areas.

I like the blocks on the seat! I left my seat switch hooked up for safety for a long time. Then one day it started to fail and the mower would die while in the field. When I figured out what it was I bypassed it and never looked back, wished I had done it years ago.

Biggest issue was always traction.

I can relate to this. I got tired of getting stuck in the low spots. Just for fun I looked on eBay and found another set of tires and rims the same size as mine. Duals!! They work awesome.

I have a Kubota F2560 diesel. It is almost the same machine, and is an awesome mower. I wish it was 4WD, but I have a B7100 for those jobs.
