/ Must remove the hitch? #321
In last Sundays news paper business section. the Arkansas Democrat Gazette. Has article on a new trailer hitch that extends in a 18 inch arc to reach toward a trailer hitch.
It is a class 111 handle a load up to 6000 pounds

This should be a good hitch for those who cannot stand for others to have something they don't have extending from rear of pick-up.

Walk to close to a cattle trailer and get cow poop attached to your jeans.
lesson is taught in a hurry.

Yeah, but a cattle trailer is obvious, a piece of steel protruding horizontally 12"-18" off the ground isn't.

Just backed a car trailer with 50 pallets into place for tonights bonfire. As soon as the trailer was uncoupled, the drawbar was removed. I practice what I preach.

You are awesome. (Insert sarcasm)

Have you coned off the front of the trailer because it too is 12-18 inches off the ground and protruding. Burning 50 pallets will harm more people than my left in drawbar tonight. Hopefully they are also clean of chemicals and nobody steps on the remaining nails.

Happy New Year...We will clean the nails up tomorrow or the next day depending on the party, and it seems pretty good as people are showing up..At least no one will smash their shins around here since all drawbars are removed amongst 6 or 7 quads, quite a few pickups and a few ATV's..We all have concern for other's shins.:D:drink::D

I've read every post and have heard nothing compelling beyond "I don't have to, and it's not illegal" of which I agree.

It's still LAZY, Inability or unwillingness to spend 30 seconds to remove a drawbar---LAZY.:D

No other way to frame it sadly....I find the justifications hilarious though---Keep it up I don't care, I'm in it for the amusement now.:D:D

So your possibly going to leave the nails on the ground for an extra day? That is LAZY and someone could get badly injured.

So, Timswi what do you do with these sinister drawbars when they are not in use?

/ Must remove the hitch? #327
I'll be away from the forum for a while, There is a safety issue on my land, that could badly injure someone careless. I have to take care of it, or be thought of as "lazy and unconcerned for others."

If anyone needs me, I'll be somewhere along my fence, filing the points off all the barbs.

Probably best to just take it down when you aren't using it. Do you put the animals away at night?

Kind of a shame. The person who created that probably put a lot of thought and money into the design, but it is 5 years too late. Backup cameras make that obsolete and as those become standard equipment on more and more trucks his potential market will shrink to nothing.

Zing I agree and gave the web site never mentioned the $350 + cost for a hitch that driver only has to back close then move the bar with ball to fit the tongue of trailer. Maybe a strong spring to yank a hitch back under the bumper. when not in use.
Now I have walked into the tongue of a 5th whl. trailer more than once. maybe need to remove them also when not in use. (Not really if you cannot see something a head height looking at feet for extended hitch on pick ups)

You can get a really nice camera for $350...

Heck, you can get a workable camera package for 90$. I installed one on the wife's e350. Camera and bracket, wireless xmitter, and the lil seen.

Got it installed in minutes. Screen can even be mounted to hide wires if you route them under it and thru dash.

As for the hitches, I remember 10 + ys ago there was a hitch that would swing in an arc, and extend with pin pulls, once attached, you pulled forward till the swing part spring loaded locked in, then backed up till the in out spring load locked in, then away you went. Can't remember the name, but got one for the wife way back, many yes ago when she might have to hookup the horse trailer alone. She has a hard time centering and backing a tounge under a hitch. This way if she got within about a 10" arc she was good. Unit was only rated for 6k# so not much good for bigger than utility and small 2 horse trailers.

I remember those being advertised.

They go into the appropriate trailer's tool box.

Not my property, just hauled them. No responsibility here. This is getting really stupid now...We must agree.

The stupid part is trying to tell someone else what they 'should' do with their property, based upon your beliefs, and if they don't, you call them names.

On second thought, its more childish than stupid...

IMO...walking into a hitch is like chasing parked cars on a bicycle...

And the names and mockery of me are fine? Ok..Now I know some other things..Your opinions are the final say, anyone else's are not. I get it.

What some of you don't get is that I find this laughably hilarious, that's why I continue. If I was insulted or whatever, I'd just abandon the thread. :D
