Would we be evil like that in our travels?

If we had that travel ability today the answer would be "yes". Hopefully we will evolve into benevolent creatures.

Sadly, you are correct. If we landed on a planet of spotted owls we'd sacrifice our race to save them. But if we landed on a planet of intelligent life we'd destroy them with our stupid good intentions. We barely have tolerance for our varied races here let alone embracing an alien lifeform...... :(

I would hope to see you qualify that assessment.

The fact is, the United States is a force for good in the world - the greatest force for good among all nations. The American people are more generous than any several other nations combined. Of course, if you are referring to intergalactic travel from the religion of peace countries - yes, bloodshed at every stop.

I agree with your assessment of the U.S. as in the greatest force for good among all nations. But that in no way means we are benevolently good. Just means we are slightly better than the competition.....

Seems to me, we would likely sign them all up for food stamps.

All you have to do is look at the historical record of wars, slavery, brutality, the list goes on and on. Humans are savages with a thin veneer of civility. It's going to take 10's of thousands (if not 100's of thousands of years) before we evolve to the point of being galactically socially acceptable.

My question is why are aliens usually portrayed so similar to humans... two legs, two arms, a head, and close in size? My guess is that if they do exist they wouldn't look anything like us and be a completely different size.

It is, of course, the essence of Christianity that God loves man and for his sake became man and died. But that does not prove that man is the sole end of Nature. In the parable, it was the one lost sheep that the shepherd went in search of: it was not the only sheep in the flock, and we are not told that it was the most valuable - save in so far as the most desperately in need has, while the need lasts, a peculiar value in the eyes of Love.
C. S. Lewis ‘Dogma And The Universe’

Here is how I see it; I'm Christian, so I believe I'm made in gods image. To me that means the angles and any other being are subordinate to me! So I'm not afraid of something like an extraterrestrial, or anything else. If there are other life forms; they are below me, I don't really care about them. I'm next to God, their somewhere below. My bet is people observer a not understood weather phenomenon. HS.

Disturbing. What happens if they look like us? Still considered subordinate?

UFO's what do I think?

Well I will tell you..

1. I have never seen one. At least I have never seen anything I thought was an alien spaceship.:)

2. As a former LEO (many years ago). I don't place a lot of stock in eyewitness reports. I find most people are not credible witness when dealing with this type of thing. I place a bit more faith in Pilots, Astronauts, and Technically astute people. I have stories I could tell about what people saw in the sky and what it turned out to be... people in general are not reliable witness's of aerial phenomenon.

3. I do not discount the idea that extra-terrestrial beings could exist. In fact when looking at the number of stars and the likely number of planets.. well it seems silly to me to think that life would not exist on some of them.

4. As an Amateur Radio Operator that in the past has operated thru many earth orbiting satellites, and have tracked them for many years, I have more knowledge than some of orbital mechanics. I think many of the things people see, I could explain rather easily.

5. In six decades of life here on earth, I still have not seen an extra-terrestrial being or craft. Not saying it could not happen tomorrow, just saying it hasn't happened yet.:) Now you know what I think,...That and 50 cents will buy a bad cup of coffee in a lot of places.:)

James you took a left turn and went down the "alien" path. What about UFOs?? Have you ever saw anything in the sky that could not be easily explained?

"Genesis 1:26
Then God said, let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."

Notice it doesn't say anything about dominion over creatures beyond Earth. You will find out how "subordinate" they are when humans become appetizers!

Its a COOK BOOK !!! ( How to serve man) - Twilight zone

Along with some photographs that can actually be seen to show some details - not photoshopped or staged of course. Over 70 years of reports and not one photo usable for analysis.

There's an ongoing internet joke about most UFOs actually being street lights.

Actually they are here. Why they haven't already turned Earth into a buffet is unknown. Perhaps we're more valuable alive than dead or perhaps they just don't like the way humans taste? :chef:

Why don't aliens eat clowns??? They taste funny!

I really can't think of anything I have personally seen. I don't doubt others have.
