Cab, 12x12 shuttle and self-leveling loader?

Ok after you clarified it a little. I would recommend a utility tractor. Maybe a JD 5055e or 5065e. Kubota m6040. LS 7010. NH 55 or 65 series just pick a letter set. Should be able to find all of these used. The self leveling loader may have to be an add on though.

TSO, You are right, snow wasn't in the first post but it was in my second and around here no one ever thinks of doing snow without a blower so I never thought to be more specific. And I can see the confusion about bush/brush now that you point it out.

When I wrote the original post, I was figuring the 12x12 would have been the biggest limiting factor. Most models I've looked at are either HST or 9x9 (which isn't enough choice) or 16x16 in a too-big machine.

Trailering is not a concern.

farmer, thanks for those suggestions, I'll take a look.

Its too bad LS doesn't have any 'real' dealers around. There's 4 within reasonable driving distance yet none of them give the warm and fuzzy feeling that they'll still be there in 5 yrs, never mind trying to get parts in 20 yrs. I really liked the a couple of their models when researching for the 3300

MF has the most standard options, add an Alo loader, you are all set. they are self levelling, the best loaders money can buy.
With it being Christmas, I figure that it's a good time to dream about my next tractor, not that I have any complaints with my B3300. My wife often talks about getting another dog (we already have 3) and my response is sure, when I get to have a second tractor......

Must have list:
Factory cab
12x12 shuttle trans (or greater, just don't want a 9x9)
Mechanical self-leveling loader with decent lift capacity
Aftermarket loaders are acceptable and easy to add to a good tractor that doesn't have one
Not likely new but don't want ancient either
Brand not really important but JD has a slight edge

As small as I can find meeting the above criteria.

Opinions?

I'd love a Massey 4608 myself ... :D

Well I can recommend to stay away from the 261, 271, 461 & 471 Massey Ferguson's. Dad has the 471. He got 1000 hours out of the first clutch. And everything I can find on it says that's on the high side most are around 800 hours some as low as 400.

Yikes ! That's not good. Thanks for the heads up on those

Is there an LS dealer around you? If so, how about something like this:

U5030C ォ LS Tractor USA

Or, for a little more power and a hydraulic shuttle (which is a huge improvement, IMO):

XU5065CPS ォ LS Tractor USA

I think both of these have self-leveling loaders. I know the U5020C that I test drove did.

You might be surprised at how much cheaper you can buy an LS versus an equivalent JD.

Since you will have the smaller tractor I would get something like a Kubota M7040. It won't be too big but will give you more weight/power, limited slip front diff, go with hydraulic shuttle, selectable self leveling loader, creeper kit for tranny, bigger tires, front weights (in case you want to remove the loader and need front weight for skidding logs), and... Ok now I'm just having fun spending you're money.

In regards to Kubota versus JD. Kubota tends to have a high HP to weight ratio. JD tends to have a high weight to HP ratio. Depending on operators and uses, each has it's advantage.

Felling and skidding trees...when I've done that I wound up wanting as much FEL capacity as possible because I was often lifting trees on the forks to cut them and move large sections, or lifting one off another. My loader had 2500lbs of lift to full height, and it often wasn't nearly enough. Backhoe with QA forks is being delivered in about an hour to fix that problem

Nice! That's an option I hadn't thought of. I've seen backhoes with 3pt hitch and box blades doing snow in parking lots. I wonder if there is a PTO kit for any of them that I could run a blower..... More lift and much cheaper than comparable farm tractor around here. Just would need to put some R1s on it since the standard R4s suck as soon as it gets a bit muddy

She's a beaut Bart. Looking forward to specifics once you get her goin. I especially like the powershift split on each forward speed. Often wish I had that.

I think that's a great machine, but I actually went a slightly different route for my larger machine requirements....delivered earlier today:

Yep...standard Case controls, e-hoe, dual batteries, hydraulic QA front bucket and forks...the whole enchilada minus AC
