3rd function valve with s.a cylinder

Will the Kubota 3rd function valve work a single acting cylinder?
I'm thinking of using it to run a s.a cyl. for a (frame mounted) snow plow lift cylinder.

That's a good question but I don't see why it wouldn't. Any DA valve I know of will run a single acting cylinder. I may be showing my ignorance here. I was surprised you didn't get a quick affirmative answer.

I had a factory sub-frame mounted snow plow;if I remember right,the third function ran the angle(left-right) and the FEL controls ran the UP-Down.

If it's "frame mounted" why not just use the FEL controls? I am assuming the loader won't be mounted at the same time?

But to answer your question directly, yes the 3rd function will operate SA cylinder, the system will just go into relief for the few seconds the cylinder is collapsing.

Yes Kenny, the loader will be off but I have a Fisher "Vee" and I need 3 circuits. (left wing, right wing and lift) I understand that the loader valve is "regenerative" and will not work with a s.a. cyl. I did not think that the 3rd valve is, and had a dealer tell me that it was not. I just wanted to double check. Thanks, and many moons ago, I lived in Westminster also.

I thought that a regenerative valve only was regenerative in the ram extension direction and that in the retract direction it acted as a standard valve where the fluid returns to tank under low pressure. So that if you had a SA cylinder you had to make sure you hooked it up in the "right direction" to make it work. The SA cylinder extension would be slower because of the lack of regenerative fluid from the cylinder ram end but it would still operate.

But you seem to be saying, if I read between the lines, that is not how it works. I don't have it quite right. I am just trying to get a better understanding of how things work.
