Kioti CK25 won't start

I am not sure if I have the Injector Pump problem that I have read about on this forum, but I have a Kioti CK25 with under 200 hours. I purchased it new in February of 2008. I was using it for a couple of hours yesterday and then again for 45 minutes today with no problem. It was running at idle with no load and all of a sudden, it lost power and fizzled to a stop. It was like a golf cart that lost battery power and dwindled to nothing. I tried to restart it and it started briefly, but had no power. After that, I could not fire it up, but it would continue to crank. I had half a tank of diesel fuel and the oil is full. It was acting like a fuel issue, but I don't think that it is bad fuel as I had been using that same tank for several hours. I removed the fuel filter housing / container (a screw on container that looks like a small mason jar). I emptied it and checked the filter. There was some minor specs of debris, but nothing major. I replaced the fuel filter housing / container and tried to start the tractor again, but all it would do is crank (would not fire). I noticed that the fuel housing / container is not refilling. That made me wonder if I have a fuel pump issue. Then I checked this site and saw the "threads" associated with common injection pump issues. I can't get it on the trailer, so I can't take it to the dealer, but I was figuring that if I could narrow down the problem, I might be able to remove the part and take it in to the Dealer. Is there any way to know for sure what the problem is? Thanks

Looks to me like you went over and checked every possibilities. How far is your dealer? maybe worth a service call. Good luck.

Thank you. it is only 45 minutes, so that's not too bad. I was able to use a "come-along" to ratchet the tractor on to my trailer after I took the front end loader off. I was worried that I would have trouble with both of those tasks, but they went pretty smoothly. I will let the Dealer figure it out from here. I will let you know what they come up with.

You made the right decision to take it to the dealer and find out what the real problem is. Hope it is not too major but doubt it. Good luck and let us know what comes of it.

I took my CK25 to the Kioti Dealer today and he confirmed that there is a pin stuck in the closed position in the rack in the injection pump and it is not allowing fuel to pass through. There was no warning and no odd behavior. As a matter of fact, the tractor was sitting and idling when the problem occurred??? The Kioti Dealer has agreed to send the rack to a local Diesel shop to see if they can rebuild it. I am hoping that they can as a New Injection Pump from Kioti is close to $1,000 (I don't think that that includes labor). Hopefully I will get some good news.

I do hope that they can repaired the pump without replacing it. Still the tractor is only 8 years old and this should not of happened. Have they at least mentioned what could of caused this to happen. Good luck and hope everything turns out good.

Thanks K man. The tractor only has 197 hours, so I was surprised that I experienced an issue like this. I don't abuse the machine and aside from this, it has been a very dependable piece of equipment. I will pursue the cause of the issue with the Dealer. He implied that it is an issue that they have seen and that they knew about, but they view it as an infrequent occurrence. They did not suggest a cause, but I will try to get some more feedback from them. From what I can tell in reading the posts on this forum, it seems to be a poor design. Additionally, it seems that it may have something to do with the use of low sulfur street diesel rather than off road machine diesel. I will ask the Dealer if he recommends that I start utilizing an additive since I don't have access to off road machine diesel near me.

Sorry to say, but I don't think a fuel additive will make any difference.
Its a design flaw. There have been many reports of this issue over the years on TBN.
Kioti models from 2005-08 seem to have a lot of reported injector pump issues

I am hoping that if they can rebuild it, maybe it will be stronger. I would be a bit concerned about buying another factory injection pump since I only got 197 hours out of the first one. I should hear from the Diesel shop tomorrow as to whether they can rebuild it or not.

I just read a " sticky " post on this problem with Injector pumps and I read that it was a problem for many years prior to 2008. I just hope Kioti has made sure that this does not happen on the newer ones like mine 2013.

Hello K man, that is one of the things that I want to clarify with the Kioti Dealer. If they rebuild mine or if they utilize a New Injector Pump, will it be the same material, same parts, same design, etc. or have adjustments been made that will hopefully ensure that the replacement - whether rebuilt or new - holds up better than the original. Although mine is 6 years old, I only have 197 hours. I wouldn't expect a failure like this at only 197 hours.

I agree with you totally man. I have had in the past old International (1940) and Massey Harris ( 1956) and none ever gave me any problems with fuel injector pumps. The tractors basically fell apart and rotted away but still ran. So no real reason in this day and age for that. I just hope I do not run into that problem with my Kioti or it will be my last. Just sayin.

I picked up my tractor this past weekend and I got away relatively cheap. They were able to have the injection pump rebuilt at a local Diesel shop. It was $475 plus tax. When you figure that I have had the tractor 6 years and that is the first problem that I have had, I don't feel too bad about that. I used it for several hours over the weekend and it ran great.
