How long do glow plugs typically last?

I don't use the tractor regularly, but try to start it and let it idle weekly or so.

I don't know how long glow-plugs should last, but it definitely appears that yours are not working. That engine should fire right up if the plugs were working properly. Check fuses, and or wiring for glow plug circuit.

Called the dealer I bought it from and they said that the 5 year is for powertrain only.. the glow plugs would not be covered.

That doesn't add up. The glow plugs are a component of the engine which is the heart of the powertrain.

If you looked at it that way you could say the tires would be covered under a powertrain warranty even. Glow plugs and all electrical goes with B2B in most

To the OP does the glow plug have a manual switch? Like turning the key backwards? You may just need to let them heat up more.

I'd still take it to a dealer. Unless the dealer has already looked at it and diagnosed it as a glow plugs. And I still find it hard to believe glow plugs wouldn't be considered part of the power train.

I removed the glow plugs last night they all seem to be good but had a fair amount of carbon (I think) build up on them. IMG_4821.jpg

I cleaned them off and put them back in.. I then checked the volts they were getting (turning the key backwards with each one). they are all getting 12.9 volts. Only thing I didnt do is attach leads to them while in a vice to see if they are actually working. I figured with me checking the resistance and power to each plug that they are working properly and that the relay is working, as it should, due to the meter reading zero when the key is in the "off" position.

Now I will say i had to really scratch through the carbon to get a good connection while checking the resistance.
