Almost all gun crime in New England, MA included, is gang bangers. At least since we got Whitey Bulger off the streets. There is very little stranger gun crime. And yes, Maine, Vermont and NH have higher gun ownership (mostly hunting rifles) and lower gun crime but the reason is that they have no inner cities to speak of and no gangbangers.

So it's really a intercity (100% democrats run), black issue in your mind. Interesting. Most might say you are a bit racist. I wouldn't though. HS

It's not racist to discuss data. Yes, gang violence in Boston these days is largely black young men versus black young men. Some killing involves innocents caught in the crossfire. A few armed robberies mostly in the same zip codes.

Bottom line is that 95% of the population is outside the affected zip codes and are perfectly safe living without guns. Not clear that having a gun in the inner city does anyone any good either.

Hey! Don't you know the late Mayor Menino said Boston has some of the "best" gun laws in the country? Murders only doubled while he was mayor, even with some very promising programs (since dissolved) that attacked the root causes of violence and despair.

During the last election day a guy was shot outside the polling station about 100 yards from the new mayor's house. True story.

I have news for you, gangbangers, gangs and their influence are everywhere, to say that there aren't there is ignorant, they most certainly are.

As an current LEO, I work in a very affluent community and they are present. I live in an affluent rural community and they are present. They are everywhere and where do you think they go to commit robbery and burglaries? I'll give you a hint even they know you can't get blood from a rock

I believe every able bodied American should be armed and excer use their 2A rights.

Yep, we even have them down here in the sticks. Way back "in the day" when I was a LEO, we had a lot of bad guys that lived over the border in the poorer counties with low law enforcement presence that preyed on the more affluent people in the county I served. They seemed to feel safer living "over the border". It didn't always work out for them as our detectives would just arrange for a neighboring LEO to meet them for a raid over in the other county, but it seemed our county was ringed by bad guys. If people want to think that law enforcement can protect them from active crime, let them.

In my short and unremarkable law enforcement career, I can remember only a couple of times of catching criminals in the act of committing a crime. I can remember seeing and writing thousands of reports after the crimes had been committed. I personally took many reports at a walk up window, of beatings, rapes, robberies etc as well as hundreds of property crimes. At the time in my state CCW was not permitted to any but law enforcement.

I am here to tell you, no one can look out for the welfare of yourself and your loved ones, but you. This is said not to denigrate the efforts of our brave men and women in law enforcement, they do all that they can. But they just cannot protect you.

I have no doubt gangbangers can travel. Still, at least in my state they seem to do the vast majority of their misdeeds in just a handful of zip codes. There hasn't been a gun crime in my community for decades other than a couple of domestic violence incidents where the male used his protective firearm against his wife.

Just as a point of clarification:

One does not have (choose your number) Amendment rights - such as 1st Amendment rights or 2nd Amendment rights.

What you DO have are RIGHTS that are REITERATED by certain Amendments. They are in the Bill of Rights, not to be created or endowed - because they ALREADY exist and you ALREADY have them. The reiteration of certain of your rights is simply to make an official recognition by the government and to try and wall them off from tyrants. Of course, there will always be those among us with an ignorant propensity to restrict, regulate or deny those rights.

Government, liberals, communists, marxists, Obamatrons and others do not have the ability to REMOVE your rights. They do have an ability to DENY your rights. This is called oppression, tyranny, a police state or a democrats utopia.

Another point with which that leftists seem to struggle is this ... You do NOT NEED A REASON to exercise your rights. You DO NOT NEED a reason to own a firearm. You DO NOT NEED a reason to state a political opinion. You HAVE A RIGHT - a right that exists without your need to justify yourself to some overbearing dimwitted leftwing idiot.
