Wasn't sure what was going on. I was pushing over a tree and I could smell something. It smelled like the anti freeze and overheating. I started to head back to the garage and noticed a light was on. It looked like a windshield washer light telling me the windshield fluid was low even though I don't have wipers. I then thought about the regen. I am at 31 hours and didn't think it would regen until about 50. I scrolled through the screen and sure enough it was at 100% and regenerating. Didn't notice any power loss whatsoever. It took about 10 minutes and it as complete. Now I know what to expect.

Not 100% sure, but I think anything over 30 HP???

Just wait until it is below zero and you cannot push snow because the exhaust is full and cannot reach regeneration temp. Try letting it run in your garage and filling it full of smoke. That is what the local Ryder shop had to do for my Freightliner. It was fun! Hate that stuff.

My new m7060 did 2 regens in 30 hours but always rolling regens and like you said it smells funny but I'm used to my duramax it makes the same smell when it regens!

What is Kubota using to regen with? If it's diesel then is would be careful about letting it regen inside a building. A local trucking company burnt down a gas station when it's truck did a regen while refueling. Burnt driver bad too. They were spraying diesel into the dpf.

I'm pretty sure that is how every system that isn't DEF based works.

Correct. Also keep in mind that along with DPF is th EGR, loading the intake runner with carbon....

DEF just piggybacks on, the DPF and EGR are there too.

Thank Obama and the tree huggers.....

While I LOVE to pin everything bad on Uncle "O", I think these regs were written long before him.

Something I'm sure you weren't told because dealers probably aren't aware but the DPF unit has a finite life, that is, after so many regenration cycles, it becomes full of ash from the roasting of visible particulates and must be 'renewed', usually by removing the unit, seperating the sections and replacing the ash trap with a reman one.

The 'full one' has to be emptied with a special machine (expensive machine) and the ash has to go to a hazardous waste landfill and it's not a DIY job because the ECM has to be reset as well so it's a dealer job.

Yea not a big fan of the new emission laws. There comes a point when you do more harm than good. From what I have seen the new motors burn more fuel than the old ones. How's that better for the environment?

Anyways. Can you explain a little more about the DEF. I always thought it replaced the dpf. So there was no regen cycle.

..so, keeeep your air filter clean and don't burn cheap diesel..... Upsetting the a/f ratio and causing execessive visible particulates will shorten regen cycles, fill the cannister faster and cost you even more money at th dealer....

Ryder never displayed much in the smarts department, IMO.

We park them outside in the back and let them scream on highest rpm avaiulable and let them stink to themselves....

It was too cold out side. The exhaust was too cold to do regeneration. Their wash bay really stunk. That was the same thing all the dealer were doing, but the dealers have exhaust systems to put it outside.
