Jared,

You are obviously well versed when it comes to tractors. What is your take on LS & Mahindra in relation to the Kubotas? Thanks for any insight you can render.

You know I'm going to be honest with you, I am not at all familiar with LS, I Did look them up and went to the website though. I'm actually very impressed with how well it's put together (the website) and how clean, crisp, and well oiled they are appearing to make themselves come across. I look at this as this is the image they want to give off to the world and so it tells me this is who they want to be. I will have to do more research and learn more about them. They are another S. Korean company and you know, the Koreans are our friends & allies (southern ones of course) and they are an intelligent people, so in what little I have read so far, they will come along and could very well be a fierce competitor in the tractor market in the years to come.

I would give LS a while to develop more as a brand in the US as it doesn't look like there are many dealers yet, what does that mean for parts availability? Service? Warranty? Looks like they are using the Mitsubishi engine, good engines that have stood the test of time, they are just not as popular or global I guess you could say as others. Let me clarify, Mitsubishi is as global as anyone else, it's just not an engine you are likely see when opening The hood of something. The engine I would say there should be no issues getting parts for since it is Mitsubishi backed, they are good engines so you would probably not need parts for this so much as you would likely be going to the dealer for something like a clutch, a broken hood latch, oil fill plug, Start switch, and body panels. How available are these parts? Besides the nut and bolts I really don't know these guys yet to say. Im betting woth only two factories in the US, parts availability is limited right now. Kubota has 4 with the giant warehouse in Georgia, also they have been bulding another huge addition to Georgia's plant for more assembly lines to run in the US. (4 warehouses: Georgia, Ohio, Texas, California, with a US corporate office in Torrence Ca. So they are distributed nicely across the US making parts abailability and distribution even).

I'm going to bet that as more of these tractor manufacturers start saturating the market in the years ahead we will see some buyouts, mergers, acquisitions, etc of some of these. Who knows the intentions of the buyer, maybe they keep the name, combine the name or just close the completion altogether. (I should also mention took Business as my major in college, go Boise State!) we'll see who the strong is, and may the fittest survive.

Mahindra- ok, mahindra I've known of for a while now, but not really been much of a competition at least in my area. Mahindra is Indian, they are far short yet on quality, they have a ways to go to catch up to the other tractor manufacture, even a little ways before catching Kioti. That's an opinion though. Like I've said, I don't like to beat down the competition. No manufactur would be in business if everyone thought they built crap. But, Mahindra could work on the fit & finish a little more. It just seems to me they kinda got in a hurry toward the end and went, "uh so now what do we do with this stuff hanging out of our tractor?" And they just slapped some covers or clips/ties etc over it. Fit n finish is a 3, maybe 4 at best. You will see obstructions they lay out right across the operator floor pan, I think I've seen hoses with a metal cover over it. I'm really not sure why. To me I want a clean, clear, and unobstructed floor pan on my machine, these get very slick and slippery a lot, muddy and snow packed. Even a lot of brush, hay, and weeds get caught in the crevices so I like to know that when I'm getting on or off I don't have a hazard to constantly work around or slip on. Not that this area gets hot, but I have seen tractors catch fire from brush/hay getting built up & ignites. The more places for things to get caught on, the more dangerous becomes. Since I'm not in much competition with mahindra yet, please enlighten me on their pricing, I am assuming they are somewhat comparable to Kioti, maybe Branson or Montana units? I can easily find out but ill let you fill me in.

This is another reason I joined today, there is plenty more for me to learn. And thank you in advance for teaching me as well. I would talk more on these tractors, & the engine in Mahindra, but I feel if I blab to much it gets boring, some people don't like to read books. But last note here, I'll do more looking into LS & get back, at first glance they look solid, many models tho for such a small hp range. They also look very very New Holland-esque to me. But Kioti looks Kubotaesque also. ....oh South Koreans, they work so hard to create good things just to then syle them to look like something thats already been done before. Lol. Stand by for more later.

Hello everyone! My name is Jared & I have over 8 years of experience working as the parts & sales manager at a Kubota Dealer in Nevada. I'm 28 years old & worked for the company since high school (Took a 2 year break to go to school full time then came back). I've sold hundreds of tractors and my strong points of knowledge are in the parts & sales of the BX, B, Standard L, Grand L, MX, M, V (RTV), & the construction line of the KX or U models, R series wheel loaders (R420/R520, one of the greatest machines ever made & Kubota's best machine ever made in my opinion.) I've done some crazy & unimaginable feats with these machines, I mean, stuff everyone else here wouldn't touch, I would get called into action to finesse or seat jockey whatever the situation was back into check. Anyway, my knowledge in the larger M starts getting limited (99hp & up) but still know what I need to know. My main market is the BX Though MX & RTV. If you have a question just ask. I will be coming to the forum periodically on my own time for simply the love of helping people. So my knowledge that I share with you will be from my own goodwill & completely from my memory bank. I will not be at work where I have all the info at my fingertips & for fairness to my own customers & to be available for them please don't expect me to check on anything during my working hours & get back with you. If I have any doubts or recommend you to your own dealer then do just that as they will know precisely what you have & how to better help you. Only so much can be done over the computer screen. Other than that I will be glad to help where I can. I've learned many many little tips, tricks, money saving shortcuts w/o compromise to quality or warranty for that matter & much more. Just ask, if I can help I will, I've even bought & sold many other brands products like John Deere, N.H., Yanmar, etc. ALSO, on a last note, I've also been the Bobcat dealer here for 8 years, our market is very small for these machines so knowledge is limited but again just ask, I won't try to tell you something to sound like I know if I dont, I will make it clear to you how confident I am in any answer. Another line of products is several attachment lines with the main one being LandPride, division of Great Plains. 3 1/2 years as dealer for them & Kubota backed implement manufacturer. Thanks! Can't wait to share some knowledge & help with y'all! ~JP~

OVRxNxOUT,

Welcome to TBN. :welcome: Just being nosey, do you live in Elco, NV or Elco, MN ? ? ? I used to live not far from Elco, MN.

I have a question for you about the dash panel on a Kubota BX2350. Will send you a P.M. about it in a while. :cool2:

Ok back about the welders, the kioti is heavier indeed, disadvantage: your fuel mileage towing the extra weight over a lifetime, the actual disadvantage: the steel used is a cheaper lower grade steel that's part how they save money, that's why there have been cracked joints or welds, but most of all its heavier because the lower quality steel means they have to use more of it especially if they want the extra lift capacity. Furthermore Kioti has about 300 dealers nationwide, a good number you think yea? Kubota has over 1100 dealers nation wide, how far does someone want to go to get service? Kioti is coming along though and I'm sure they will one day be a quality machine that's evenly priced with Kubota. I have met many kioti owners that are very happy and very pleased with it and not all of them suffer from cracking at stress joints. Kubota is very conservative and goes to relief at a lower capacity, this is what makes a kubota though, it's what gives it the longevity people know kubota for.

I know I'm blabbing on here but one last thing, next time you have a chance, notice the fit and finish on a kubota vs any other brand, notice how care is given to things like linkages, hoses, and the sort are considered by Kubota. They are tucked away neatly out of site, out of danger, yet easily accessible if needed. Take a look yourself. The $4,000 higher price...well, you can see it. Sound like a salesman yea? Lol sorry, not trying to sell just stating the facts. Thanks for the post.

#1 Welcome. Nice to have a talkative Kubota dealer here.

#2 Other than your personal feelings, what evidence do you have that Kioti uses a lower grade steel? Have you bothered to look at the state of the art Korean steel industry lately? They are producing the same quality steel as Japan but probably using more modern plants than the Japanese whose heyday in steel was twenty or thirty years ago. Where are the world's super tankers built today? Kubota builds lighter CUTs because most of them were initially sold as lawnmowers and for that use light weight is an advantage. Kioti builds more traditional heavy style tractors so benefits from the weight in some operations (ground engaging, loader etc) and gives up that light foot print advantage that sells so many Kubotas to suburbanites whose number one priority is mowing momma's grass. If I were just mowing lawns, I'd own a BX instead of a DK

#3 That Kioti "uses lower grade steel" has been a Kubota marketing shibboleth for years. As best I can tell it is complete baloney. Exactly what "stress joints" are you referring to that are cracking? The old KL120/130 loader? That was a design defect (squared corners rather than rounded on a torque tube) and that issue was fixed seven or eight years ago. If you are referring to your experience with Bobcat loaders etc, be aware that Bobcat sourced it's own loaders and those were not built by Kioti (?even built in Korea). I have followed the Kioti threads here for many years and there has never been a problem with welds or steel quality in Kioti tractors. If there were there would be lots of posts on the matter. There are virtually none since the KL120/130 business was resolved.

#4 Regarding dealership numbers, yes, if you need your hand held by a dealer, buy a JD or Kubota and get used to spending multiple hundreds of dollars every time you need the oil changed. I'm happy to talk to my dealer by phone and have him send me the supplies I need. So far the worst thing I've had to fix is to replace a cracked fuel bowl (under warranty). My tractor is now in it's eighth season and has never needed to go back to the shop.

#5 Sell your Kubotas based on what they offer in features and performance, how reliable they are and what a great dealer you are. Don't bother trying to denigrate other brands to sell your premium priced machines. The old Kubota dealer negative talking points baloney doesn't work here on TBN. Save it for your naive customers. If you need to do that in order to compete with Kioti, tractor to tractor, something is wrong with Kubota (probably the price!). Instead just take the customer out to the lot and show him the $22000 Kubota that can lift 2700lbs+ at the pivot points.

#6 Seriously, welcome to TBN. Discussions here can get feisty but I think we all benefit from vigorous debate more than just patting each other on the back with "atta boy" enthusiasm.
