Ashton Kutcher once said "The harder I work, the luckier I get"

"I find that the harder I work, the more luck I seem to have." - Thomas Jefferson (1743-1826)

Gosh I should be amazingly successful by now then... :D

David

David--You are already successful in many ways. At the moment you're tied up with other issues and have temporarily lost sight of the good things you already have. Your kids, your sense of right and wrong and fair play, a moral compass, your health, friends and the physical possessions you have been blessed with. A lot of people can't buy and would sure like to get a hold on the things you've been blessed with. Time will sort things out, just hang in there. Uhh, I know because I was once there and would never be where I m now unless I took the same route you are now travelling. This is all part of a master plan. Go with the flow, whatever it may be.

I received the same advice way back when and didn't necessarily believe or accept it either so it's OK.

So, with a quote here for the thread --"This too shall pass".

Thank you for setting the record straight.

When I was about 18, my dad gave me a little business card with this saying on it...

Illegitimi non carborundum

Attributed to General "Vinegar Joe" Stillwell. It's "mock-Latin" but roughly translates to "Don't let the b@st@rds grind you down!". I kept that card in my wallet for many years until it finally disintegrated. I've since printed more and will occasionally hand one out to someone that's going through a rough patch. Keeping that saying in mind has gotten me through many tough times! :)

SixDogs,

You are of course correct. It was a poor attempt at gallows humor.

I too like your quote.

Be well sir,
David

Maybe found a source for a couple of quotations.

"In Africa, when an old man dies, it's a library burning."

"If you know that you do not know, then you will know."

I always liked "Going to **** in a hand basket!" I finally figured out the phrase referred to the collecting of heads in a basket, after the guillotine had done its work of chopping them off. Dickens has a reference to this.
