Shell Transmission/Hydraulic Fluid

I ran out of Shell Spirax S4 TXM fluid and I am needing to add fluid to my Mahindra. I usually buy it by the case at the local oil distributor. TSC has Shell Rotella HD Trans/Hyd. fluid. Is this Rotella HD fluid compatible with Spirax fluid?

Do you have a walmart nearby? I literally just bought 10 gallons of Spirax S4 TXM from my local wallyworld tonight to do my 50 hour service tomorrow.

No Spirax at my wallyworld. I just waited until a week day and bought it from the distributor.

What do you have that schedules fluid service at 50 hours? My manual schedules at every 500 hours.

5035HST, it's the first 50 hour service....I just rolled 50 hours on it. After this it calls for hydro at 350 hours.

5035 as in Mahindra? I gather a HST needs more fluid replacement intervals.

Yes, Mahindra 5035HST. I guess the HST requires more frequent hydro fluid change than non HST. Dealer said I only need to change filters at first 50 hours, but manual says engine oil and hydro and filters, so that's what I'm doing. Hydro then every 350 hours. Considering I've had this thing 1.5 years only put 50 hours on it, I don't expect to be changing hydro all that often

It will get used a fair bit more next summer though, have some plans that'll require a fair bit of work. Since purchase I've only used it for some field hogging, a little dirt work with the FEL and snow removal. Next year will be tilling up the yard, box blading it and smoothing it with a chain harrow and replanting grass. My mowable "yard" area is huge and it's really rough (when the house was built in 1900 they just started mowing the field around it and never actually smoothed or planted grass).

Right now it takes 8+ hours to mow it all with my beat old Craftsman 42" riding mower...getting a 72" cut zero turn next year and want to make the yard nice and smooth so I can actually use the speed advantage of the ZT without beating it and myself to death.

Thought about a big finish mower or good flail for the Mahindra, but it's too heavy to be driving around on the yard, leaves compacted trenches, hence the ZT.

That and I'm also going to be making a motocross track for my son and his friends out in the field....gonna be a lot of blade and FEL work there.

I would think twice about a 72" ztr. First of they scalp a lot more, especially if the yard is rough. They are also tough to put on a trailer.

I am on my 4th ztr. I now have a Ferris 700 with a 61" deck. It's been the best of both worlds.

I started with a cheap Cub 52". Next was a Scag 52". Third was a Ferris 72". Now this is my last, my 61" Ferris.

You will love the zero turn. I have had a 52 inch Hustler Fastrac for 10 years. I don't cuddle it. I mow places I should be brush hogging. I would also like the 72 inch, but I would also like it diesel powered. 72 inch wide should be real nice after you level and smooth your yard. I don't mind scaping here and there, as one can not tell the difference, down here, from fire ant mounds.

Ha! Yeah, a diesel ZT would be sweet, but that's like $17,000+. I'm going with a Badboy Outlaw XP, 72" cut and 36HP Vanguard. $9400. It should last me the rest of my life. If I was running a mowing business then the diesel would be worth the investment.
