Are you on city water or a well ?

yes, city water out at the street, so there is a way if I make that call. So I can't turn off a well pump....There just has to be a valve down there somewhere.
crawling around in a three foot crawlspace inhabited by eight million spiders is not my idea of fun, and this is a big house and a lot of crawlspace. I might try at the one end of the house where the water line seems to angle in from the street.

You might be able to do it yourself ... with the appropriate tool or wrench.

LOL ... been there, done that ... multiple times ... including a few that had scads of black widows ...

It's no fun.

Hopefully it's located close to the perimeter walls ...

Use lots of light if ya hafta go in ...

Spray brake cleaner works really well to croak wasps and hornets instantly ... dunno how well it would work on spiders ... probably knock them right out.

Might pay to wait a bit if you can, before you start letting out any work and hiring local contractors ... just in order to get a better feel for the local denizens ...

Also might be wise to have a little discussion over at the next Friends Meeting on who they like, as far as being reliable, fair, and trustworthy ...

what a great idea. But my tattoed guy who looks like he just came out of a biker tv show I'm sure will be on their list.
actually, I did clear this guy with someone else, who said for siding he was fine, but not for finish carpentry.
Besides, I only asked for a quote on doing the fascia before the new gutters go on. And he had pictures of his work doing prior siding just like mine. So he passed, barely...

36 (!!!) right now, high of 61 today and probably some rain later. I hope the rain holds off until the afternoon.
We sold our Subaru a few weeks ago and bought a 2011 Honda CRV. We leave at about 0800 to pick up the Honda and my wife will drive it home, which is why I home the rain holds off.

Hey I know a fellow like that - really rough dude ... with a pretty questionable past ...

Big guy, ex-biker, covered in tattoos ... mostly reflective of a former life ...

Presently, he's an extremely devout Christian - someone who actually lives it (rather than talks it) - and has been for some time.

Ya just never know.
