Kubota MX5200 HST. John Deere X320
Well I just traded off a Kubota L3800 DT with a few hundred hours on a new MX5200 HST with fel and grapple. I was looking for a more capable machine and with 5 hours on the MX I think I've found it. We got it with R1 tires and had the back tires filled. With the common rail injection this thing sure is quiet. Both the fel and grapple work great with the engine running around 1500 rpm. I've told my wife that when the weather cools off she might not see me for a few days. I ve got about 20 acres of woods that were logged out recently and really need cleaned up. Thanks to all who have posted and helped me gather the information used to get this deal done.

I stopped my my local bota dealer today and ordered up a Grapple I could not see how I could live with out it... I have a excavator coming out this fall to pluck out a few acres of stumps I hope I can keep up with him... No wife to keep up with so I may can do it....

Congratulations, that sounds like a nice setup, we recently bought a grapple and wish we had done so much sooner.

I think your ability to stay up with him has as much to do with the size of the excavator he's using as much as anything. The right size excavator can remove stumps with one or two pulls. I know for me using the grapple came very naturally, actually easier than I thought it would be. I would think that the grapples with two clamps are the way to go.

Question for those of you with grapples. Does your grapples have grease zerks? The grapple I got was made by the Kubota dealership and doesn't have any.

Yes, my Small EA wicked grapple has zerks. on the main axle and the pivot points for the cylinder too.

I have said this before but was always told when you use a FEL you don't want a tractor without one. I feel that grapple as a attachment should fit right in to this statement. A friend asked to unload a trailer of brush he had removed from his property he asked to put it on my burn pile and said he would unload it by hand previously had said couldn't understand why I bought a grapple. I told him to stand back unloaded it with 3 grabs about 5 minutes total he said that would of taken an hour now he wants one.

Our Lofin has zerks as well.

Does the MX5200 have a preheat selection for the glow plugs on the key switch? I've looked everywhere, but have not been able to find the answer. Thanks in advance.

I think the glow plug operation is controlled by the computer. The key won't turn counterclockwise to allow the operator to manually hit the glow plugs. The glow plug light stayed on longer when starting it cold in lower ambient temps. Hope this helps

Congrats on the new tractor. Have any pictures of the tractor, grapple, maybe a couple of the engine area (I haven't looked at one of the new common rail set ups)?

I have an Anbo grapple and it does have grease fittings. I've been very happy with it (attached to my M7040).

Trying to post some pictures from my iPad. I ll post better engine views when I have more light. And for those interested the hour meter reads 12.6 and fuel gauge reads 1/2 full. The delivery man said he filled it before he brought it to me. It has not regenerated yet. The tractor was delivered with 2hrs on it. So I'd guess approximately 8 gal of fuel in 10.6hrs of moderate 1500-1700 rpm(8hrs)to high 2300-2500(4.6)rpm use.

Good looking tractor! Sounds like it is doing very well on fuel.

The mx5200 had its first regen today at 18.2 hours. I was a little apprehensive about the process of regeneration but it really went smoothly. I parked the mx with the engine spinning it at about 800rpm to drop off some feed and when I came back to the operators seat the light indicating that ecm wanted regen was on on the right side of the instrument cluster as was the "increase throttle" light. I proceeded to slowly increase the throttle until the "increase throttle" light went out at 2300 rpm. I then drove the tractor to the next location where I picked up some cattle panels to use in the construction of a hog pen. After operating the tractor at 2300 rpm for approximately 15 mins the light indicating "increase throttle" went out. The only difference that affected the operation of the mx was having too much power for caring the panels. But I would say that I wouldnt want anything combustible in the path of the exhaust when it's regenerating. The exhaust fumes were very hot and seemed to be blowing out with much greater velocity. Hopes this helps anyone considering a new tractor with a dpf type exhaust system
