Interesting that RV refrigerator's use a heating element. What would it be used for, other than maybe in defrost mode?

Those little portable 10 lb rod ovens are usually about 75 watts.

Sooooo. 75 watts x 24 hours x30 days = 54000 watt hours = 54 Kilowatt hours x $0.11 per Kilowatt hour (the price around here, your price may vary) = $5.94 per month. x 12 months = $71.28 annually. Nothing to sneeze at, but not quite as bad as $720 per year

Might be less than that if it has a thermostat that cycles on and off.
And it would be less for the ones that have better/more insulation.

You can get a 'kill-a-watt' meter for $30-$25 at Harbor Freight or Ace hardware. The you could know for sure

Looks like online, the newer version of the Phoenix 10# Rod Oven goes between $210-$260, heck I'm happy.

Yep, they do. They operate different than your typical household refrig. Typically a RV frig can run off propane, 110 volt, or sometimes even 12 volt. Regardless of which of the 3 modes they use a heating element to produce the cooling (oxymoron and contradiction but 100% true). Plug a dinky one in sometime and watch your electric bill soar. They simply consume the electricity and that rod oven will too. Those RV frigs are thermo controlled so they kick on and off but they still consume the electricity.

I may be high on my figure but those welding rod ovens but it will noticeably increase your electric bill any way you slice it.

I see what you are saying, now. I'm vaguely familiar with the LP gas A/C units that gas companies used to advertise.
But I didn't know that there were electric heating element versions of refrigeration. :thumbsup:
