We had a border collie...
On the other hand, if a group of children were playing in the yard, she'd run up and bark at all of them, run circles around us while nipping at our heels until we were all in a group, then lay there with her head down until one of us moved, then she'd start over again...... I think she thought we were sheep!

Our small collie did the same thing with herding. He would bark and nip at the heels when someone was leaving the house. We had to keep him in when the kids wanted to play ball. Never had an issue with thunder though. My beagle/shepherd mix hates it, she tries to get out of the house just to realize it's worse outside. She'll squeeze into a tight space and shiver.

One day, my wife and i went out to dinner on my birthday. We came home and my dog met us at the door and tried to cajole us to go to bed, hopping and jumping toward the bed room. Being 6pm we werent really ready to go to be and thought, what the heck is he doing? We continued toward the dining room and his tail dropped and he slunk away. That was when we noticed half the birthday cake had been eaten, I'm assuming he ate it cause it was all there when we left for dinner.

He was probably jumping around so much on a sugar high. Hope it was not chocolate cake for his sake.

Do your dog a favor and put her on a diet, she is way too fat and that is not healthy for a dog or any mammal to be overweight.

I agree that she is fat but that picture doesn't do her any favors. Lol

She eats proper size portions of weight management food, is active (runs between 1/2 & 1 1/2 miles often), gets treated no different (better or worse) than my other Heeler and visits the vet regularly.

Heelers are stout dogs but she does look a little extra stout. I'd cut her food back 15% or so even as healthy as see is

I agree she is on the fleshy side. No argument from me.

The thing is she will eat anything she can get her mouth around when I try to trim her portions. Not tearing up shoes and gloves, no, this little b**ch will try to eat rocks, dirt, sticks, bottles, ect. It is a constant problem, something I deal with on a daily basis.

My male is completely different. You could leave a months worth of food in a big bowl and it would last him a month, she'd eat till she burst wide open.

I can post something today! our girl Rory loves water (red golden retriever and poodle). She pushed the door open when my daughter was taking a shower and jumped in. Nadia (5) already had shampooed her up before she told us she was in the shower. So we let her stay (sometimes you just have to roll with it) Got the kiddo done, went to dry the dog she took off shaking water all around the house until she jumped back in the tub. I went to dry her again she grabbed the towel and took off with it once again shaking all over the house. Finally cornered her and she wanted to play tug. My wife tells her what part of this is fun!? I couldn't help it. I said to her everything she just did is fun, she got to play in the water, play with the kiddo, play tuggie with a towel, and chase around the house. We were able to laugh while we wiped down the walls from her shaking water everywhere.

Everybody's seen "Frisbee dogs"... yesterday I drove past a house which had two medium sized dogs in the driveway, unattended. (?)
One pup stood there watching, while the other jumped repeatedly, as high as it could. I don't know if there was something I couldn't see; if the owner was hidden on the sidelines, encouraging it's behavior; or if it was simply jumping for joy. Yet every time he jumped, his head was nearly as high as the top of the garage door.

Maybe the dog was trying to get something in the sky?

Our older dog has always had a thing for birds. He has no concept of how high the bird is or what his nil chance of catching it is. When a bird passes over he will run across the yard barking until stopped by the fence. Crows and turkey vultures sailing around are particularly bothersome. Sometimes I swear the crows tease him. Since he is an old guy now, he allows robins feeding in the yard. When he was younger that just couldn't be tolerated.

sounds about right. :) if i don't get shaving these 2, in summer, they will bug me, till i say bath time. they jump in, grab the hand wand for shower and wet them down. thankfully i think they enjoy getting towel dry more than anything *shaking his head*

another dog, he would get in the bath tub, and would bug me till i turned on the shower for him, so he could cool down. Australian shepherds to smart for there own good, whats that saying? who has who trained *arghs*

I was just issued a new company truck; a Silverado with power windows.
It took Ruger just 8 days to figure out how to open the window on his door...

My lab, Ruger, loves rolled rawhides. We let him have 2 to 3 per week. Well the begging starts in the evening. Lately he's started bartering. He brings me one stuffy toy after another. He pokes me with his nose and drops his head in my lap if I ignore him. If it is a night that he can have one, I look at him and ask him what he wants. Do you want to go out? This frustrates him. He seems to to say no and shakes around and hops. So then I say what do you want? He runs to the laundry room whete we keep them but I play dumb and tell him to come back. He runs back and looks longinly at me. I say what? Then Do you want a (spelling) B. O. N. E.?

Then he runs into the laundry room again and I get him one.

He attemps this game every evening but I only let it go into the B. O. N. E. phase a few times per week.

But the bartering, bribing activity is a recent addition to his begging.

Apparently, I keep my thermostat set too low...

i forgot about winter.... the last week been getting colder and colder at night.
kujo, been nagging me at night time... took me a while to catch on... he wanted a blanket tossed over him, so he could go to sleep for the night.
shadow, little bit slower, but as soon as she saw the blanket, she got up and snuggled in near kujo, so blanket could cover them both...

then when it is time for me to sleep, i get one sheet over me, then the pups, then a blanket over the three of us. and they sleep till morning like that. it has removed the mid night potty break, and the wet nose and slobbery face licks for the potty break.
