I have some friends that have a pet rabbit that chases and plays with a ball...if you're sitting in a chair it likes to hop up into your lap...
My dog sits on her hind legs with her front paws up when she wants to see over tall grass
we inherited a cat a few years ago that is a bit independent, until
his food bowl is running low or getting stale (won't eat the last bits either)
his oddity is we can't get him to drink water out of anything but a dripping
bathroom sink. no bowls, no small water dispensers for hamsters, nothing
but a sink. we do catch him dipping down into the toilet if we forget to
leave one dripping for him for a long period of time.
Our JRT does that too. We call it "Prairie Doggin."

Clyde, our 3-leggged Labrador mix is a champ at toad hunting. He just loves to chase them down, sling 'em, get the old foamey mouth, and kill 'em.
When my wife's Chihuahua doesn't want to do something, she runs and hides...... In the exact same location day after day.
Our border collie, who just passed a few months ago, was the same way. Perhaps the worst was the 4th of July celebrations when the people on our court would blacken the pavement with illegal fireworks. She'd be a mess for days. Rest her soul.We had a border collie mix that would get in the bathtub and put her head behind the shower curtain anytime there was thunder.
If she was outside at night and heard an owl, she would run up to the back door, sit down, put her head against the door and close her eyes until we let her in.
She was a chicken.
On the other hand, if a group of children were playing in the yard, she'd run up and bark at all of them, run circles around us while nipping at our heels until we were all in a group, then lay there with her head down until one of us moved, then she'd start over again...... I think she thought we were sheep!

Callie the cat likes to drink out of Clyde's elevated water bowl. If the water is low she splays her front paws on either side and dips her head until she gets to the water.
What's going on with either my system or the forum - when I click on that pic it comes out upside down?
/edit - oriented correctly before clicking on thumbnail
Do your dog a favor and put her on a diet, she is way too fat and that is not healthy for a dog or any mammal to be overweight. We may not be able to put ourselves on a strict diet, but our pets can be easily diet restrictive.Layla, aka Miss Piggy, rides with her nose to the AC vent to get the maximum cooling effect.

We had a Siamese cat that did that. Only drank from faucet. He would jump up on the tub to drink when running bath water or on the kitchen counter and go to the sink and meow till we turned on the faucet for him. STRANGE CAThis oddity is we can't get him to drink water out of anything but a dripping
