tcartwri, you should read up on this before you make a statement like that. You don't know what's what about this according to your statement which is filled with assumptions and error.

The exact date that Everlast welders started getting legitimate UL certs for USA market is probably something the FBI would be able to sort out.

guessing anything purchased before that date is worthless.

On the contrary.

I can pretty much guarantee you that if they fudged the Canadian certs, then the UL cert means nothing either.

How DARE you besmirch the stellar image of everlast and their "factories". They'd never falsify any approvals and use a trademark without permission. It would never happen.

I doubt it.

I would think if things are as bad with Everlast as Scooby and mackadoodle suggests, someone at Everlast would be in jail, or at least a huge lawsuit would be in play
Is there anything like that going on?

Otherwise I think this seems to me to be much ado about nothing
:duh:

I want to put something like this in perspective, and discuss a hypothetical situation , not real, but it is plausible and easy to compare.

A young man from CA back in the late 70's started a computer business out of his garage. It grew to a multi billion, multi national corporation in a few short years. One day in the early 80's the government comes along and says, Mr. XXXX it appears from a complaint lodged by someone that has failed in their own business as your competition, that you did not have the appropriate business license, and your home was not zoned for business when you started this company, and you continued to run this for 2 or 3 years, without insurance, handicap accessible facilities, and we're sure you missed some cash sales along the way and did not report them to the IRS, therefore we are going to fine you retroactively for X millions of dollars, and disband the company since some of the early product you sold could have been faulty and you did not follow the law and you should return all the money and pay them extra for their inconvenience of having the potential of having their game controllers fall apart in their hands and it could have cut them...only if you had been honest and followed the law, this would not be an issue. Sounds fair right?

I'll throw you a little bone. UL certs are not required in the US. UL is an independent lab, and most if not all welder companies do not have certs from them. That is where the issue lies in Canada, Canada requires units to be registered with a private organization. That does not fly in the US.

I deal with international certs almost daily.

You have no idea how crazy the world is getting regarding import and export labeling and rules.

Canada has been one of the worst with WHMIS.

Look it up, these rules make it near impossible for small business to do business

Guys, (rjmack in particular) I have regular duties that don't allow me to respond to every posted snide comment all day. RJmack apparently has a job that allows him to do this.

A passive aggressive ad hominem attack?
