scoob,
What you have read and how you interpret it is already suspect, and you are presenting hearsay.

there is nothing hearsay about it, and the issue is not putting the wrong stickers on, it's putting COUNTERFEIT stickers on.

there is no question this was done deliberately.

Lets discuss the one thing you have been avoiding from the beginning,

I want my money back.

not 10%, not 50%, and I'm sure as **** not buying another one.

I want a 100% refund, period.

Everlast Welders

I have one, and most people love them. Unfortunately I got a letter from law enforcement telling me to dump mine. This is in Canada, but both the company, and the police have told me quality is driven out of Canada, their guy goes to China and holds specs. I am told by law enforcement problems are probably not limited to canada.
If any of you are on other metal boards, get the word out so that nobody with a small wallet buys one until the issues are sorted out. Everlast.com has locked their board on this thread.

"That is what I am told. Wire sizing was mentioned, there are a range of products subject to the recall, and the details on each could vary. They have continued to sell the products regardless of the findings, so people should know what is going on before they consider a purchase. "

Then I suggest you do as the RCMP suggested you do...call them. I've consistently told people in this forum multiple times, on multiple occasions, we are separate entities. You said you had not been contacted, but I would believe that letter serves as your contact...and the ball is now in your court. If you haven't contacted them, and discussed your expectations with them, you are tilting at windmills.

I believe though that he definition of WRONG would incorporate counterfeit...If you pay with counterfeit dollars in an American store, you paid with the wrong money. If you paid with Canadian dollars in an American store, you paid with the wrong money as well.

'wrong' can be misconstrued as an honest mistake, if that was the case the RCMP would not have used the word 'COUNTERFEIT'. Customers were deliberately mislead by Everlast.

You are telling me that Everlast cares so little about their customers that, rather than contact me, they let the RCMP contact me and leave it at that.

A reputable company would contact me themselves and try to put things right. It's clear you have no intention of doing that, and let's not pretend you aren't running this show, so I will pursue it with the RCMP and the courts.

Let this be a warning to anyone who thinks they are dealing with a reputable company when it comes to everlast welding machines, or the people who flog them.

Stuff happens. There is a LOT of rules when you are selling in various countries, making stuff in another and trying to comply with everyones laws/rules/regulations and standards. I can see where this can happen and someone sees the sticker and figured the factory put it on and it is right only to find out later that was not correct. Can and does happen to the best of people and companies. Really as long as it is safe and works the sticker only means something for regulations and compliance. Call them and talk to them about your options and move on. It is a welder - there are at least a few things in life far more important....

Gawd, you guys just keep making yourself look foolish!

On the contrary.

I can pretty much guarantee you that if they fudged the Canadian certs, then the UL cert means nothing either.

Canada IS a special nation with special needs ..... wait a minute , are we like the "special" Olympics?

please don't toss it in the river, there's enough stuff down there ( bury it in the back yard in concrete if you must )

and yes we do look foolish on many things , but hey , 200 years of practice almost makes perfect , right ?
